~I think, therefore I am dangerous~

Welcome to the first edition of what I hope to be a successful endeavor here on Gamespot. I have decided to do you all the favor of converting my blog into an editorial of sorts (*fanfare*). This choice reflects my choice to give you more of what you want (I have performed research, and I have determined that your desire to hear some person on the Internet express his opinions on you is only slightly higher than that of hearing some person on the internet tell you about his life.) This is Gamespot, so naturally the topic of discussion is games. I will try to be as fair as a human can possibly be, but I will state that I do show a slight preference to Nintendo and Microsoft. This doesn't mean I won't criticize Sony from time to time, but It's all in the interest of fairness.

With that, let's begin...

~PS3: Play Beyond or Pay Beyond?~

4 days. This is how long it will be until Americans get to get their grubby little mittens on a shiny, black, chromy PS3. It's also 6 days until that nice slick Wii comes out. No matter how euphoric a moment this is for the average gamer, the real winners here are the retailers. Of course, how far they win depends on the console of their purchasers choice. 250$ will get you a Wii, the smaller, arguably more "innovative" console. You have to pay more than twice as much, a budget busting 600$, to get a PS3.

So, is this investment really worth it? That really depends on the games, which the PS3 does have a few promising examples of. The one that really sticks out is Resistance: Fall of Man. This game is pretty, well, pretty. It 's done by the developers of Ratchet and Clank, which guarantees a unique cache of weapons. All previews so far have looked good.

So, we know the PS3 is good in it's current Incarnation. Herein lies the catch, "In it's current incarnation". The PS3, while a good system, is not the holy grail of video gaming were were set to believe. Choppy framerates on the unlocked games, poor use of what almost every fan will tell you was a last minute gimmick (the motion sensor), and a generally badly reviewed line-up (except for a few choice titles). Add to this the delay of many of the launches stars, and you have a system that falls short of the expectations.

What will really seal the deal in gamers minds is the competition. Many posts have come up on Gamespot's forums showing 360 and PS3 screens side-by-side, with equality across the board. The Wii, on the other hand, comes with a much-better implemented Motion-Sensing controller. Both the 360 and the Wii will, at combined retail, cost just as much as a PS3 (in actuality, this is either a little less or little more, depending on which 360 you pick up).

The line is drawn, and the pieces set. The PS3 , while failing to live up to its higher claims to game, has met the expectations of what many would expect for today's gaming market. It has the games and the gear to hit gold, but will the price tag stand in the way?

Some people just don't have opinions. Like Mrsuper.
Mrsuper must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could Mrsuper possibly have for not rating a single film?
