After watching the trailer for The Happening, I was sure that M. Night Shyamalan would redeem himself from his last mess Lady in the Water. I was wrong. The Happening (Mark Wahlberg, Zooey Deschanel) is the tale of a high school biology teacher Elliot who witnesses a catastrophic epidemic occurring in the East coast of the United States. Something is making people lose speech, and eventually force them to commit suicide by what ever means. The rest of the film is about Elliot, his wife, and his friend's daughter (among some other survivors) trying to figure out what is happening, and try to get to safety. I will admit, some of the scenes in the film were disturbing, and were somewhat stressful...but it still didn't give that psychological chill factor that his previous efforts made (Sixth Sense, Signs). I found the acting was mediocre at best, and is one of Marky Mark's weakest performances. The movie was unique, I give it that. I haven't really seen a movie with a "killer" such as what was in The Happening. I did not like this movie, but it was certainly not the worst movie I have ever seen (Like many people are saying). 2.5/5

Cars, like all of Pixar's films, are filled with lovable characters matched with a lovable story. Cars in my opinion is pretty fresh, considering I have never seen a movie where cars roamed the world talking and such. The cast is very vast and vibrant (Owen Wilson, Larry the Cable Guy, Paul Newman, Bonnie Hunt, Cheech Marin, and tons of cameos by real race car drivers). It's a very nice mix if you ask me, and all of them put up great performances. The scenery and the cars themselves look very nice, so it is great. The story (taken from MovieTome website) revolves around: Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson)who is the rookie race car that has his dreams of winning the Piston Cup, as the first rookie race car that would have ever won. But after a three way tie, he must travel to California to settle the winner of the Piston Cup. On the way there, Lightning McQueen falls out of Mack, his semi-truck that was transporting him to the Piston Cup. Lightning McQueen tries to find Mack, but has no luck and ends up traveling down Old Route 66, and coming upon a little old town, Radiator Springs. Lightning McQueen destroys the main road of Radiator Springs, causing him to kept there until the road is repaired. During his stay he meets a crew of other characters, including Mater( Larry the Cable Guy) and Sally, and Doc (Paul Newman). After being here he falls and love with Radiator Springs...only to rushed back in the fast lane

Pretty good story, that makes you fall in love with the characters (especially Mater). The music fits the whole mood of the movie. This movie is a sure "win" in my books. Once again, Pixar proves that they are geniuses. 5/5 stars.

Now let me start this off by saying Stone Cold ain't good in this movie. Pretty cool wrestler, but not actor. The film had potential. I mean, it was following the formula from the movie "Battle Royale", which was highly successful. Now lets talk about the movie. It's plot revolves around 10 inmates who are on death row, are put on an island with an explosive ankle bracelet, and they must be the sole survivor, and they will be set free. All this...for a web show. The plot isn't anything special, but this movie could have been handled much better. I will tell you the honest truth, . Some stunts and stuff were OK, and the fights could be somewhat enjoyable if it weren't for that awful shaky camera ruining it. The thing that I liked about this movie was some of the death scenes. They were far from perfect, but at least two of them made my mind say "Oh snap". Acting was mediocre at best, but man Stone Cold put up a very cheesy performance. If you want a cheap, dumb action movie that will somewhat still satisfy your action junkie brain, then I guess you could try this. There are far better action movies. 3/5 stars.

Who would of thought that a movie with two characters : A man and a volleyball would be amazing. Sure enough, Tom Hanks and "Wilson" pull it off. He puts on an amazing act, full of emotion and feelings that is very believable. The plot synopsis is: Chuck Noland (Tom Hanks) is a FedEx troubleshooter, who's charter flight crashes near the South Pacific, and leaves him stranded alone on an island for four years, overcoming many obstacles and troubles all while his finance is in Memphis moving on with her life (Though she is still deeply saddened). The movie hits viewers with a need to have sympathy for Chuck. When he is sad, your equally as sad. That is an amazing feat to accomplish, meaning Tom Hanks is one hell of an actor. The whole plot can be slow at times, but it flows nicely. The film also has a nice musical score, capturing the essence of the film. Some people are angered about the film's notorious product placement (FedEx, Wilson Sporting Goods) but I like how it adds realism. The movie also has a big cultural impact, with tons and tons of people spoofing this movie. This has to be one of the best movies by Tom Hanks, one of the best performances by an actor I have ever seen. 5/5 stars.

Like all sequels without Jim Carry, this film has the same fate as Dumb and DumberER and Son of The Mask. Well, I'm being too harsh, because at least we get Steve Carell and Morgan Freeman. But that does not make this movie better then Bruce Almighty, which was hilarious. Now the plot synopsis is : Recently elected to Congress, former newscaster Evan Baxter has just been charged with a mission from God. But when he starts to build an ark, his family and colleagues begin to wonder if Evan is crazy or the next Noah. Now, don't get me wrong, in this movie, there were some funny parts that made me chuckle, but at a certain point this film turns from a mediocre comedy to a poor religious family movie. John Goodman's role in the movie was pretty cheesy, but in a good way. For a comedy/family/religious movie, it had pretty good special effects (Thus having one of the biggest budgets for a comedy, $175 million, but the film had poor box office sales). I found the movie pretty boring at times, and it was like the film was trying to force in jokes when unnecessary. But like I said, there is a few chuckles to be found. Theres really nothing else to say. I mean, the movie is watchable, but it is nothing compared to Bruce Almighty. 3/5 stars

If you could look up cinema perfectness in the dictionary, the movie poster of Pulp Fiction would appear. Everything about this film, is perfection. Quentin Tarentino and Roger Avary are geniuses. Three great little plots into one great movie. "Vincent Vega and Marsellus Wallace's Wife", "The Gold Watch", and "The Bonnie Situation". In a nutshell, this movie is about two hitmen (Samuel L. Jackson), an aging boxer (Bruce Willis), a crime lord (Ving Rhames), his wife (Uma Thurman), and a wide variety of other characters that live out the movie's chapters , with all characters interacting with each other, and mixing together nicely like a dirty martini. The cast for this film is absolutely flawless. All actors and actresses pull out amazing performances. The overall atmosphere of the movie is put together flawlessly , and it's three parts will keep you entertained from start to finish. Music is also great, it suits the whole gangster/hitman feeling. This is a movie that deserves six out of five stars, because of the way it flows together beautifully . So, the verdict: This is a drama that should be watched by all movie enthusiasts (Well, the adults anyway, I wouldn't want to show this to the kids). 5/5 stars.

Robert Rodriguez brings us the second installment of the "El Mariachi" trilogy. This time, with a bigger cast and a bigger budget. I thought this movie was really well done, I liked the whole atmosphere/theme of the movie, and the lone guitarist/gunman is still cool. The plot revolves around "El Mariachi" (Antonio Banderas), a former guitarist who is lusting for revenge, after a drug boss kills the love of his life. Along with many bar shootouts, and action sequences, he meets a beautiful women named Carolina (Salma Hayek) who works for the drug boss. Now, the movie was really good, but I thought that the plot was a bit choppy. But, Desperado was a nice movie. Had some great shootouts, especially the last scene where the guitarists use their guitar cases as guns (Although, the case being a rocket launcher was a bit cheesy). This movie even includes a nice cameo by Quentin Tarantino. In a nutshell, it is a great movie to watch. 4/5 stars.

This is clearly one of the best war films ever made, if not the best made. A gripping tale of war from start to finish. Watching a soldier's life from training to his fight in the Vietnam war. Stanley Kubrick truly created a classic. This film is about JT "Joker" Davis, who begins basic squad training during the Vietnam War. In the first stage of this film, Joker trains with all of the others in vigorous challenges, and has to deal with a hard as nails Drill Sergeant, and a psychotic Pvt. Pyle. The second part revolves around Joker being a correspondent, and lastly, the third part is the battle itself, with Davis fighting for his life. This film has a great cast of characters, whom you will all grow to like (*ahem* don't get too attached). Music was wonderful, and the war could defiantly be felt in this films great atmosphere. Acting was top notch, and Kubrick's war film truly is a classic. Any war buff most likely saw this, but any one who likes a good war drama with a nice splash of comedy, this is a must watch. 5/5 stars.

Now let me say that I was forced by my friend to see this. I did not want to go because it looked stupid, but to be polite, I went. Turned out to be one of the worst movies I have seen. A very typical stupid teenager horror film. I will say, like many other people that the plot had potential. Its about 4 teenaged boys who have secret powers, who are part of a secret society, and their "secret" might be let out when one student is found dead. The way the film used the plot made it seem stupid, bland, and not interesting at all. Acting was terrible, and was a snore fest. A very weak cast, a director who used to be respected (Renny Harlin, Die Hard 2) but is now rubbish, all I saw was disaster for this film. The only person I know who likes it, is my friend. So if you like boring films about nothing, then this is your film. To think we had turned down "Invincible", a pretty decent film to see this. A shame. 1/5 stars.

It's obviously not with Airplane or Shaun of the Dead as an amazing comedy, but it was a pretty good attempt. This film is full of the most popular celebrities: Tim Allen, Martin Lawrence, John Trovolta, and Willian H. Macy. Wild Hogs is about 4 middle aged guys who are tired with their average life who have a motorcycle "gang" called the Wild Hogs. They decide to go on a road trip to where ever, and go through hilarious antics to get there and back. The jokes in my opinion made me laugh. My family loved this film, and William H Macy was hilarious as Dudley the computer nerd. I liked that all the actors have a pretty good chemistry, as if they were together for years. The plot is fresh, and is a decent movie. A great movie for the family, you guys will have a fun time. 4/5 stars.

I am a huge action movie junkie. I have seen a lot of good action movies. This is one of them. If you want a movie thats "Shoot first, ask questions later" this is it. The commercial for this film states to "end you summer with a bang"...I sure did. The plot revolves around a man simply known as "Mr. Smith" (Clive Owen), who has an extensive military military background, really wants to be left alone...that is until he saves a pregnant women's baby . He then teams up with a prostitute Donna Quintano to protect the baby and themselves from a ruthless hitman known as Hertz (Paul Giamatti ) and his thugs, who want them dead (including the baby). So, in a guns blazing fashion, Smith tries to get away from these thugs. I thought the plot was good. I gave a basic summarization of what its about, but trust me its good. The action sequences in this film are off the chain. I haven't been this pumped watching a movie in a while. Acting is top notch, we got a great cast, really good music, and a nice gritty, fast past feel. This was one of the best summer movies, and ANY action fan should watch this. Like Peter Travers (Rolling Stone) says " This is a wet dream for action junkies".

But, it was an ok comedy at best. From the makers of Reno 911!, Balls of Fury is about Randy Daytona (Dan Fogler), an ex pro ping pong player, who was USAs top player until the summer of '88 where he is humiliated in front of millions when he loses...and to top that off his father dies. He is asked by CIA Agent Rodriguez (George Lopez) to go undercover and compete in ping pong lord and triad leader Feng's (Christopher Walken) illigal ping pong tournament. As you can see, the plot is a huge spoof of the plot of Enter the Dragon. The jokes in this comedy were funny at some parts, and really stupid at others. I agree with many people: There were too many "balls" jokes, they used it WAY too much. I also thought that they introduced these characters that had potential to be hilarious like Karl Wolfschtagg, but then they disappear. But, it was an enjoyable time, and was decent. I give it a 3.5/5.

Quick note the film is Chinese with English subtitles. The movie is about Tequila (Chow Yun Fat), a "hard-boiled" cop who investigates a case on the Triads weapon smuggling into Hong Kong. Tequila teams up with under cover cop Alan (Tony Leung) who go up against the gang in cinematic gun fights. In my opinion, all action movies today somewhat steals something from this movie, it had it all. The story is really good, with twists and turns. Action is top notch, and also included in this film package is liters after liters filled with juicy GORE! Acting is great, and really bad ass. I REALLY liked this movie. It has "bad ass" and "funny" written all over it. I never seen action/comedy being mixed so wonderfully. The movie is about Sgt. Nicholas Angel, the best cop in London who succeeds in all aspects in being a cop. He is so good, that his own team gets him relocated to a village with low crime rate (He made them look bad). That village is Sandford, where once Angel gets there meets his dim witted, action movie loving partner Danny Butterman. Angel becomes suspicious after many different "accidents" happen (By accident I mean bloody, gory murder), with no one in the service even caring. Acting is great and very funny, action is top notch (Especially for a parody!), and is bloody. One of 2007's best films! 4.5/5 stars.

I thought this was the weakest of all Austin Powers movies, but that doesn't mean it wasn't funny. I laughed a lot. But it just didn't deliver that much. This time around, Austin Powers (Mike Myers) becomes single again, Dr. Evil (Myers) has a time machine to go back to 1969 and steal Austin's "mojo" while he was frozen. Fat Bastard (Again, Myers) is hired to extract the mojo. So, this film finds Austin trying to get his mojo back, fall in love with the girl, and spoil Dr. Evil's plans of destroying Washington DC via "Death Star". Same groovy style, same catch phrases (Oh behave baby!), same Powers. This film introduces Mini-Me, who is pretty funny. The jokes aren't all bad, but some made you just say "stop". This movie really hits the high school life dead on, it's struggles, it's laughs, etc. The plot revolves around 5 teenagers (A brain, a jock, a "princess", a basket-case, and a criminal) who are stuck in detention on Saturday for 8 hours and 44 minutes. The five do not get along at the beginning, but as time goes by, they learn about them selves, what happens at home, etc. Acting is great, and music is good. The movie has some nice jokes in there to. The great thing about this movie, is the meaning behind it. A true classic, that will live on forever.

Finally. A really decent comedy movie (That, you can say falls in the romantic genre somewhat). All I know is, I cracked up watching this, and I bought it on DVD. The plot revolves around Jeremy (Vaughn) and John (Wilson), two guys who sneak in to wedding to crash it and sleep with women. At one particular wedding, Jeremy has sex with a virgin Gloria(She falls in love with him, but he only wanted sex, and is clinging to him) and John falls in love with Claire (McAdams)who is also Gloria's sister and now both "crashers" break every rule of crashing set by Chazz(Farrell). Very good plot if you ask me. The cast is all star, with Christopher Walken as the father of Gloria and Claire, and members of the famed frat pack. Acting was good, music was great (with many well known songs), and jokes were great. Its not the greatest comedy of all time, but it sure is pretty darn good. 4/5 stars.

I don't know about most reviewers on this site, but I liked Nacho Libre, and I agree with NY & LA Times. It was a fun, quirky comedy from the same guys who brought you Napoleon Dynamite (Which I despised). I had bad thoughts about this film, but it was not bad. The story is about Ignacio "Nacho" (Jack Black), who is a friar at an orphanage, who has a huge passion for luchador wrestling. He plans to wrestle to earn money for the orphanage, and prove to the nun(whom he has feeling for) that he is tough. But things fail as he loses every fight, and then starts to have doubts. Jack Black was very funny from start to finish. This film also has a very cool soundtrack, and funny jokes. You should check this out. 4/5 stars.

Smokin' Aces, is a film that made half of my brain say "That's nuts!", and the other half say "What the hell am I watching?". Its a great film by all means, I just thought there were too many characters and plots, and things happening at the same time. So its pretty hard to follow. The plot of this film is about Buddy "Aces" Israel, who is going to spill the beans on a mafia don. Well, a $1,000,000 bounty on him, and now its a race between the assassins to get him first. I thought that the plot was really intelligent, and makes you think a little bit. The cast is phenomenal, with Ben Affleck, Alicia Keys, and Ryan Reynolds. The big problem with this film is that, frankly, theres so much stuff happening, switching scenes(Assassin to Assassin), flash backs, and trying to figure out if the persons dead or not, can be a little too much to handle in the short time that is a film. But a good film. 4/5 stars.

I will say that Rush Hour 3 was pretty funny at most parts. But the film did not fair better in my opinion then the first two (Which were fantastic). Plot revolves around Inspector Lee (Jackie Chan) and LAPD Detiective James Carter (Chris Tucker) who must travel to Paris to battle the Chinese Triad, and Lee's brother. The plot was OK, nothing real special, and I did find that some jokes were used before (Especially in the previous Rush Hours). But still, it was nice to see Tucker and Chan to reprise their roles, and it was pretty funny.
The music used in the film was almost the same in the other films. But inferior to Rush Hour 1 & 2. 3.5/5 stars

A very funny film starring Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro. It is about a man named Gaylord "Greg" Focker (Stiller) who is in love with his girlfriend Pam, and plans on marrying her, but before doing so, the key is to meeting with her retired ex CIA father Jack (De Niro). Jack becomes suspicious in many ways of Greg, and everything goes wrong while Greg is trying to make a 1st impression. I thought the plot was original, and I liked it. The chemistry between De Niro and Stiller was fantastic, they acted really good. The joked were extremely funny, as go with the antics. Cast was good, and basically was a hoot. Overall, you gotta see this movie, you will not be disappointed. 4.5/5 stars.

Spawn is a film based upon Todd Mcfarlane's comic book series, which are dark, gritty, and full of attitude. The film had SO much potential, but came up short. The plot revolves around Al Simmons, a military assassin that is betrayed by the government (His boss), gets killed and is sent to hell. The demon Malebolgia offers him to see his wife again if he chooses to lead his army against Heaven in the Armageddon. Simmons accepts, becomes Spawn, and goes out seeking vengeance. The plot was good, but the acting was absolutely terrible. The dialogue is pretty cheesy. But the film does score with some cool action sequences, and the film did have great special effects at the time (Compliments of Industrial Light & Magic). The cast wasn't impressive (Micheal Jai White as Spawn), but that does not matter. Overall, I think this was an OK film, that is a rent (But a defiant buy for fans). Had MUCH potential to be great. 3.5/5 stars.
