Is there not a Stalingrad Sniper game? I'm sure there must be games incorporating this element, but I think there is enough scope in the subject to make a dedicated and satisfying game, with many intriguing and challenging moments.

Of course it is tempting to think 'Enemy at the Gates' or someting similar, but really it is just the idea of being able to explore an entire ruined city that tempts me so much. It'd be awesome to have a giant map that you have to slowly navigate around, with emphasis on really taking your time to find the best locations, and learn the land. Air Raids could change the lay-out of the city in a moment. Also some puzzle elements - where are you getting shot from? How can you take down that rapscallion?

Some limited online play might be fun too, and with yummy Next Gen graphics.

Come on developers, make my dream Stalingrad game!

That would be awesome. I loved the atmosphere of Enemy At The Gates - it would make a superb environment for a tactical shooter. I wonder why Allied France is always the choice for WW2 games?

The limited Russian weapons compared to the German's would make for a decent development curve, and the possibility of capturing advanced German weaponry would provide an opportunity for boosting. Limited supply routes, awful environment, evacuating civilians. Cool.

And if you could play as either side, you could re-write the history books by actually winning for the Reich! Intriguing...

Sounds like Killzone 2 has been inspiring you in unusual ways. There was a game called Sniper Elite on the old XBox/PS2 that had some of those game elements you were after like hunkering down in the best spot and waiting for the perfect shot but it was set in Berlin and not Stalingrad. It might be worth a go.

enemy at the gates = epic film... there was 'Sniper Elite' for PS2 and PC and Xbox which was a very satisfying game but with very little story or immersive story-telling moments. setting traps was fun though

Yes, that would certainly be an epic game. You should definitely look into the game 'Sniper Elite' thats been recommended, if you haven't. It may be enough to sate your craving for the time being. The most realistic, tactical sniping game I've ever played.

Stalingrad = most fascinating battle of WWII for me, along with North Africa. Not really sure what that has to do with the topic but there ya go.

Hi.
There has not been a great Sniper game yet but "Sniper Elite" is the best choide for now.
Also sniping in Battlefield 2 is fun and rewarding.
