'twas me.

So I call EB today, wondering if there was any word on the next shipment. The lady on the phone was really nice (I tried to break off the conversation a couple times to hang up, but she extended it further to help me...must've been bored) , and she said they were expecting twelve units this week, but I was sixth after that. She wasn't sure if I'd get one before Xmas.

Feeling even more depressed than ever, I go do some grocery shopping. I figured since I have some time, I'll check out a few stores along the way.

BestBuy. Nadda
Futureshop. Nadda
WillowGames. Nadda
Zellers. Nadda
ToysRus. Nadda

I was in the Best Buy plaza, and I saw the Wal-Mart across the street and figured, hey, may aswell give it a shot. I got right up to the electronics section, and there it was. The light at the end of my tunnel. Five premium X360 boxes in the case. The guy was just putting them in there. After previous false alarms with 'display boxes' at BestBuy (bastards), I figured I'd ask before crapping my pants.

Me, cool as usual: "a-are those real?" (that's what I said *shakes head*)

God. I mean Wal-Mart employee: "yep. You want one?"

Me:"hell yeah. Is it a premium?"

WME:"Uh, I think, take it".

And I grab it, almost drop it cause it weigh 120 pounds, hug it, and then checkout. I know everyone in the store was looking at me whilst I was walking out. I felt like some old lady protecting her purse with a kung-fu grip walking through the red-light district at night. Although I'd probably slaughter most of the soccer moms and grandma's shopping in there, you never know with some of them.

I get to the car. Sweeeet!!!!!

7:30am: Alarm Goes off...............

Just kidding But I was worried I was dreaming it. I did a bunch of tests to make sure I didn't go through that again. On the drive home I started to read out the car model's infront of me

"Okay, Mercury Sable, plate 108GCN"

"Ford F150 2223FA"

etc. etc.

First test passed. Then came the slaps. Whilst waiting at the lights, I gave myself quick slaps to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I'm pretty sure a lady in the opposite car saw me. But I can't worry about that now. Sometimes dreams can get off-track quickly.

I promised myself, if I were sleeping and woke up, I'd punch a hole in the wall. That was another sign I wasn't dreaming.

Luck is rarely on my side. The fact that I entered that store just as the systems were being stocked seemed too good to be true. I had a feeling someone was going to rear-end me, and whilst everyone would be asking if I was okay after smashing my face into the windsheild and bleeding out of my eye, I'd be screaming like a maniac trying to open my mangled trunk just to find a 360 split in two.

But alas, I finally got it home safely. It's downstairs right now, I'll probably set it up tonight. I can finally sleep calmly at night without weird nerd dreams of getting 360's all the time.

Congrats Minda. Just think, now I can blow you away in Perfect Dark or Call of Duty 2.

While you were saying "Nadda" I kept thinking about that Gamefly commercial Y'know, the one where they're in the rental store and the only games on the shelves are "Let's count sand" and "Bean Farmer Extreme?" Well, when the irate customer queries the clerk and says, "Where are all the good games, you have nada."

And the clerk hands him a DVD box and says, "We have Nada III."

Ha. Haven't seen that one, but it sounds pretty funny. "Let's count sand" could be a killer app for the Revolution if done right

BTW, Shame-us, does the 360 DVD player play movies in progressive scan? I know the original didn't and it was kind of dissapointing. Cheap DVD players can even do EDTV, I'm not sure why MS can't include a half decent drive.

Nice work. Now, sell it on Ebay for a huge profit, and nab a 360 in February.

Yeah, I'm sure I read somewhere that it does. It mentioned that the player itself was just generally higher quality as well.

Hah. It crossed my mind, Oilers, since I should get my EB one soon. But the thought lasted .8 seconds. I'd rather work for my money than screw someone out of theirs.

I just set the system up. Took me a couple hours, and I played a period of NHL 2k6, and I was thoroughly impressed. Not sure if it was the 1080i, but the game is DEFINITLY not 'last gen'. The ice looks incredible.

Heh, if someone is stupid enough to buy a game system for $1000 on Ebay that you'll be able to get in a short time anywhere for less than half that price, they deserve to be screwed.
That's the way I see it.
Anyway, congrats Minda....Hopefully you enjoy.
I recommend renting KIng Kong and Call of Duty, my favorites so far. And make sure you Pick up Splinter Cell and Oblivion in March.

I got Call of Duty and NHL 2k6 for launch. COD2 is awesome. I'm on the british campaign right now. The Russian one has been my favorite so far, though the deserts in Egypt are beautiful.

I'm so glad to hear that you finally got your 360 Minda. Needless to say, I felt really bad that I wasn't able to come through for you at launch, but hopefully now that you have your 360, you'll forgive me for being such a doofus.

Hope to see you in CoD2 someday.

No probs, Archie. Atleast you offered, instead of Ebaying it (which would've gotten you close to a grand at the time). Yeah, hope to see you ladies on COD2 sooner or later.

Is PDZ good enough to take over Halo 2 nights?

My bro and me didn't like COD2, we prefer COD and chips. COD 2 when you aim, the gun takes up half the bloody screen. I still find Frontline my fave WW2 game, if only the controls were up to PC standard. Roll on a wii-port i say, if its cheap enough.
