A truly amazing woman, whom is a handful of women who are involved in this profession that many donated by men, and is able to hold her own in the ruff and tumble nature of commercial fishing, especially in Crab fishing up in Alaska on the treacherous Bering Sea, considered by various people to the world most dangerous job. But she is able to take it all in strive and act like it another day in the office for her. She is also able to take care of her crew despite their colorful nature and earn their respect despite the fact that she is a woman. Above all of this she is also keeping the fans of the show updated with blogs on their official website on how they are doing in the current fishing season.

Nick Mavar is my all time favorite crew member on the Northwestern. Why? Because it seems that he totally comfortable with the camera crews, taking it in strive and acting like himself, accpeting the fact and moving on. But he doesn’t seem to hog up the camera like Edgar does. He also seems to have a calming affect on the crew, keeping the antics of his Deck Boss, Edgar in check, that sometimes results in him getting the full force of the jokes that he can play on the crew.
It a real shame that the editors on Deadliest Catch spend more time on Sig and Edgar Hansen, rather then this guy. Because I have feelings that this guy can crack out some one-liners like Sig and Edgar have before if just give him some more screen time in the series.

Whenever Mike Rowe is hosting his own Discovery Show, Dirty Jobs, were the person can see the face that is behind the solemn voice that narrates another Discovery Show, Deadliest Catch. One can’t help the fact that Discovery has captured lighten in the bottle, not once, when they got him to replace Thom Beers, whom is the producer of the show, as the narrator for Deadliest Catch, but twice when they got him to host his own show, Dirty Jobs.
While in Deadliest Catch, Mike has stick with a script that is written for him, that does not allow him much room to do make up things off the top of his head. But with his other show, Mike is pretty much given free reign with this show, as long as he attempts to the jobs that are featured in an episode. This allows Mike to showcase his humor, which I have to said is pretty dang funny and give the impression that he the every day person whom is dropped into the middle of something that they have no clue what the heck they got themselves into.

Eric Nyhammer is a crab boat captain that refusing to follow the crowd, a trait that it both a blessing and curse for him and his crew, for in the course of the show it was showed that it was something that had aided them and hinder them. It is something that appeals to me, because I am the type of person that loves people that are rebellious in their nature and I even love more when their rebellious nature gains them fortunes.
And while many fans of the show complained about his skills as being a Captain are a little lack when compare to the other captains, when he lets something go on, like when he let some of his young deckhands to fool around on the deck of his ship to the point where one of them did swing over the open ocean waters. But, I think he let them do it because he was in the same spot that they were in and just like them, he knew that telling them to stop what they were doing, wouldn’t do anything. That the only way that they were would learn is from doing and making mistakes, like he did.
I think that his captain style is the way that it is because at his heart, Eric is an artist, that would be rather painting then fishing for crabs in one of the worst environments that a person can be at.

Captain Sig Hansen is the main man of his ship, the F/V Northwestern and it is a job that he has been doing for a couple of years. According to him and his crew he is doing a great job at it because he hasn't a major accident while in command of his boat, which is almost 18 years. That is telling me something, that this guy knows what is doing despite the type of job that he is involved with. Anybody that can do that in the enivornment that he dose it in, is a man of quite talent and somebody that has gain my respect.
While is great at his job, let's not forget the personality that this guy has, which seems to be to be a low key down to earth guy that dose not care about the new found frame that he gain with this show. For he knows that if this show ever tanks, it has no bearing on him or his crew, for they will all still go out and fish for either King or Snow crab. Like the rest of the people that are featured in this show, he is a real person that is doing his job, even if might been the world dangerous job. It also help with the fact that Sig has gone out of his way to answer some of the viewers questions about his job, either it be in a live chat or forum postings.
