Sanjaya went home last night! Woot Woot!

Along with the fact that this reality show has gone from pitiful to just mediocre, there are so many other great things about this development. I have to make a list:

  1. Democracy is saved. I was this close to advocating an "American Idol: Dictatorship Edition" in which Simon alone kicked people off. It wouldn't have been long before Simon's excellent decisions made us appoint him president, and we would all be forced to wear black shirts and pledge our allegiance to the Queen.
  2. Westen Civilization is saved. If America had elected it's "American Idol" based on who's the worst, our culture would be completely irredeemable. This says a lot about Americans' ability to support actual talent over their want to continue a national scandal. I did not expect that.
  3. The Midwestrocker family stays in the USA. We have quite a few American Idol fanatics in my family and it's possible that if Sanjaya had won... we would have pulled an Alec Baldwin.
  4. I won 50 bucks! It really looked like I wasn't going to win the bet I made at the beginning of the competition. If he made it to the final five, I would have been out $50. I was very, very nervous. But it paid off! Woot Woot! Now I think I've had my fill of gambling for the year. No more! At least... not until the finale. And I have to bet on the Emmys. Oh, and Dancing with the stars, can't forget about that one.

I'm Midwestrocker, and I'm addicted to betting on television events. Quick, 20 bucks on whether or not Katie Couric is fired in the next year! Disclaimer: Midwestrocker does not support gambling and does understand that it is a serious problem.
So what are your thoughts on Sanjaya's exit? Pro or Con? Too soon or too late? Or maybe you just don't care. If so, good for you. I wish I had your willpower.

Alright, that's all I've got for today. TTYL.

P.S: 30 bucks says Fox cancels every new drama of next year. Come on!

Way too late! Sanjaya should have gone home after that terrible thing he did to the Kinks' "you really got me". For me, the biggest shock was seeing Blake in the bottom three. He definitely shouldn't have been there; it should have been Chris or even Phil. Not Blake! Never Blake!

FOX better not cancel Drive! I like it! And it gives me something to watch on Mondays. Now that Corner Gas has ended for the season, my Mondays were just reruns. Now I can look at Nathan Fillion (who's Canadian, by the way! )

Drive so far proves to be quite entertaining. I bet it will be cancelled.

It was entertaining to see just how awful Sanjaya could really be. That rendition of "Something To Talk About" was so painful! I loved to see Simon squirm when it was time to judge. He knew he couldn't say,"WTF was that?" but you were dying for him to slip.

Did I read correctly that Katie is boozing it up? I am Kimba, and I am addicted to OK magazine.

I won $10 myself because I'd bet the li'l wus would cry when he got the boot! I'm not usually so mean, but his attempts to get cocky with the judges over the last few weeks prompted my wager!

Stiggy: Yes, it was very strange that Blake was in the final 3. I really want him to stay, because I'm learning how to do an impression of him. And for the sake of my TV.com friends, I hope Drive gets a fair shake...

... but I'm not optimistic, Kimba. If only someone could judge TV shows as fairly as Simon does the Idol. The only thing I think he's been wrong about is last week's performance. He said he "liked" Sanjaya's song. Deport him! Oh, and congratulations on completing the first step of OK Magazine anonymous.

I had those same mixed emotions, KFCgravy. I felt bad for the kid, and bad about myself for being so overjoyed, but he has been quite a twerp lately. In fact, I think he may have been trying to sing poorly on Tuesday, hoping that was his ticket to the top. It just seems so improbable for him to make the (relative) improvement he has only to slip back to failure. I'm sure he did it on purpose. Or, I'm going to tell myself that so I feel better about my celebration.

Hey, has anyone caught the disclaimer yet?

What disclaimer?

I understand that it's serious too... It's seriously making me a lot of money

Okay, never mind. I saw it.

Stiggy: I just put it in as a subtle reminder that men can be sensitive too. Of course, I negated this by being so upset that no one noticed that I spilled the beans.

KFCgravy: Oh... wait for it... yeah!

CBS won't get rid of Katie, at least not this soon. It would be admitting they were wrong, and likely they have to pay her no matter what.

Hey Midi, do what I do and don't watch American Idol! It's nice (not watching it). Sometimes I watch it when it's down to three people, because they are the ones who are going to be releasing records (that sell and get airplay)

On the other hand (on the other show) MiG from "Rock Star" released his first album (a year and a half after the show).
