The previous review, by Mighty Elroy, is an excellent recap of Jim's achievements. If you would like to know more, go to www.muppetcentral.com. They have some excellent articles and tributes to this wonderful man. Time Magazine named him as one of the top twenty artists and entertainers of the 20th Century. Jim also made a TV show called "Jim Henson presents The World of Puppetry" which was a fascinating documentary, showing different types of puppets and how much prcatice and skill is required to work with them.
I was absolutely shattered when he died and just kept saying over and over, what a tragic loss to the entertainment/TV world. I am glad his family and friends were able to continue what he started because as long as "Muppets" are around, Jim Henson will never be forgotten.

I've been a Robin Williams fan for many years and I'm glad he was able to move "on and upwards" from TV to the Big Screen. His stage stand up comic routines are simply brilliant. Unlike a lot of comic actors, he actually is a funny man. I don't know of any one better than him with ad-libbing. I saw some one interview him once and I think they only asked him one question and he was off! The journalist ended up in tears from laughing so much. I have seen all of his movies and admire his straight acting performances just as much as his comic ones. I particularly liked his performance in Good Will Hunting. The only other comedian/actor I've given a 10 to is Billy Connolly. Oh how I'd love to be a fly on the wall when those two get together!

This second Addams Family movie had some wonderful lines in it. Fester's "Give me a kiss" and Debbie's "Give me a twenty" reply breaks me up every time I hear it. The kids performances at Summer Camp were also very good. Once again, Christopher Lloyd's Uncle Fester pretty well stole the show. This isn't surprising though as both movies are mostly about him. The first one is about finding him and the second one is about him getting married. Once again the all important casting helped make this show a hit. Joan Cusack did a wonderful job playing Debbie Jilinsky. Sadly there weren't any more with this cast due to the death of Raul Julia in 1994. What a tragedy - so young, not just a loss to his family but one to movieworld as well.

I loved this film. Being a fan of the TV series made me quite apprehensive when I heard they were doing this movie. However I was very pleasantly surprised at how well they did it and thought the casting was excellent. In fact, all cast members put in believable performances. In other words I like the movies just as much as the TV series. Raul Julia's Gomez and Anjelica Huston's Morticia were brilliant but it was Christopher Lloyd's Uncle Fester that almost stole the show. What a versatile actor! No wonder they made/released another movie two years later.

The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this movie over the years. It is probably the first Sci Fi I ever saw and despite how old it is, I still rate it as one of the best. Before its time is an understatement. The DVDs have different covers to my VHS but until it wears out, I'm keeping it as it has much better art work on the cover. For 1951, I think they did a fantastic job on the spaceship and the robot. If you haven't seen it yet, do yourself a favour and see if your local video store has it for hire. That way you'll find out what "Gort! Klaatu barada niko!" means. :) You won't be sorry. You never know, it may help you if you play Trivial pursuit as I'm pretty sure the game has a question relating to this movie.
