I don't really know where to start, but I should probably start back when I was but a small child. My first games console was an Amiga of some kind, which looked suspiciously like a pc. It holds some happy memories for me, many of which have now become very vague... It is now buried somewhere in the attic, but some of the best games (well, the ones that I can remember) were Batman, something that looked like a top down Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle game and a game featuring a purple ninja.
It wasn't long before I was playing the Playstation 1, and I tell you, I had quite a nack for 3D games. I remeber one time when I went to LegoLand and there was this attraction that involved several people going into a dark room and sitting at networked arcade machines, and playing multiplayer Lego Racers in PS1 style graphics. Of course, no-one would have thought a little 7 year old kid would thrash the whole room and leave them for dead. Oh yes, from what I remember, I was the youngest, there were about 4 adults and 4 kids, me being 1. But I think of that as a good example of how 3D gaming really suited me, while if you were to challenge me to a game of Bubble Bobble, I'd have about as much hope of winning as an uncordinated monkey in a straightjacket.
The games that really stood out (to me of that age) on the PS1 were Ape Escape, Crash Bandicoot 3, Spiderman: Enter Electro and Star Wars: Jedi Power Battles.
I remember my dad telling me of the Xbox, just before it came out, and this is the exact description he gave, "The Xbox is so powerful, when you drive a car past a tree, the leaves will rustle!" Of course I was impressed, but having owned the PS1 for so long, I was a Sony FanBoy, and no amount of leaf rustling would sway my judgement on which console to buy.
I purchased (or rather, my mum purchased for me) a PS2 about 2 years into it's life, and boy, was I impressed. I remember the Christmas that I got it and as I played it in front of my family, I would recieve comments such as, "Does it look like this all the time?" or "Is this a movie bit?"
It was no time at all unitl rumours of Next-Gen consoles started to surface, and naturally, I was bloody excited. Being so loyal to Sony, to begin with I had already made my judgement, I would buy a PS3. To begin with I was very naive, but as time passed by, I decided the best course of action would be to do a quick bit of research and decide from there. Unfortunately, the idea of a 'quick bit of research' wasn't what I came to think of practical, days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and moths turned into years (well, a year). I finally made my decision to by the Xbox 360 (from my own money). I went into GameStation in April 2006 and bought the Xbox 360 Premium and GRAW.
Now, I have not only all the consoles above (bar a PS3) but I also have a Wii. No matter what anybody says, I think the Wii is a fantastic piece of hardware, and that is that.
