I know that there are quite a few Full Metal Panic! fans here and I one of them. However I got tired of waiting for a sequel and decided to read the novels and I was pleasantly surprised .

FMP! The End of Day by Day

EDBD

Even though this was the novel that TSR was adapted from, I learnt that the first 4 episodes of TSR were complete filler. Apart from that the rest of the story was pretty much the same but this novel went into more detail into the characters, like Kaname's little sister.

REVIEW – 9 / 10

FMP! Dancing Very Merry Christmas

DVMC
This novel is the sequel to TSR and after the first couple chapters it is pure action and comedy. The action in this story makes this novel seem the TV series '24' and the comedy is in the form of the hilarious dialogue.

REVIEW – 8.8 / 10

FMP! Continuing on My Own

COMO
Now this novel was the best out of all of them, with an insane storyline full of non-stop action and drama. It was amazing to see what Amalgam was capable of when they finally got serious. Anyone who reads this would be shocked by the outcome.

REVIEW – 9.5 / 10

FMP! Burning One Man Force

BOMF
Right after the shocking end to Continuing On My Own, I jumped right onto this one, wanting find out how things turned out. Those of you who think Sousuke Sagara is just an uptight, military nut will soon change your opinion after reading this.

REVIEW – 8.7 / 10

Sure hope these get animated. ^_^

Who says there will be yet another sequel to Full Metal Panic?

Well I heard there will be a sequel once the final novel is released. Personally I think that if Kyoto Animation does it again they will do it after Haruhi 2nd season, which should come out next year. ^_^

Yeah, I've read up until the middle of BOMF, and its all great (even better than the anime, I'd say). However, how the hell could you have already finished BOMF, unless you can fluently read Japanese? The English translations for that novel are not yet complete, as far as I can tell.

I did find that whole Sousuke X Nami side relationship thing to be a bit unecessary, though.

Anyways, Continuing on my Own is by far the best FMP novel that I have read, so far. It was surprisingly dark, very fast-paced, and my only problem with it was that it left off at such a cliff-hanger ending.

Even though I haven't read up to the most recent novel, since I don't know Japanese, I still know what happens in the later novels, in great detail. Let's just say that the 10th novel can get really confusing, and it really makes me worried about how the author is going to be able to rap this story up, in the final novel.

Speaking of the mention of Kaname's little sister, I love how the novels actually give you some of her background story, and talk about her family, whereas the anime just assumes that they don't even exist.

SPOILER ALERT!

Oh, BTW, how did you react to Kalinin being a traitor to MITHRIL?

Actually I've only read upto Chapter 3b in BOMF, which is probably as far as you. Can't read Japanese yet . I actually liked the addition of Nami, because it shows how conflicted Sousuke can be

And Continuing on my Own is also the best novel I've read because even though I heard it was really intense, I never expected that. I just hope KyoAni does a good job animating it, once they decide to animate it .

***queue sarcastic remark*** Oh and thanks for the spoiler about Kalinin . Well I actually had an idea that he betrayed them, due to the way he was acting during COMO, so I'm not too surprised. ^_^

I didn't like FMP, so I don't see myself reading any of these novels unless TSR is really really good. I'm watching Fumoffu right now so I should get to TSR soon.

Well, I thought that it was pretty obvious that Kalinin was up to something that MITHRIL didn't know about, since we saw (well, read ) him talking to Leonard (who I really hate, BTW ) in DVMC .

Wait until you see the conclusion of BOMF. From what I have read about it, its really intense, and Sousuke shows that his skills aren't just limited to being able to pilot an advanced mecha unit .

You know, I really do need to read some of these novels again. I've forgotten a lot of stuff, and I only read the last English translated chapter of BOMF that was released, more than a few months ago.

comthitnuong - Trust me, TSR is much better than the prequel but it's kinda short .

ensatsu-ken - Yeah I forgot to mention that thing with Leonard . Well I already know that Sousuke is an excellent AS pilot but I would like to know methods he would use against an M9, in BOMF. ^_^

Sounds like you choose the right time in checking out the FMP light novels even though there has yet to be a sequel in the FMP anime series.

Ooh, I feel like reading them now

Anime-Destiny1 - Now was the best time to read them, because there won't be a anime series for 2 years maybe .

Llama_guy - Well if you ever feel like reading them, then just ask & I'll send you a link on MAL. ^_^

so... the story...ends with burning one man force? ._____.
Posted Aug 5, 2008 8:12 am PT
No, that just where the real story begins and after 'Burning One Man Force' there are only 3 more volumes (final 1 still not released) . By the end of 'Continuing on My Own' everything about FMP! dramatically changes and you'll be surprised by the turn of events once you read it yourself. ^_^

Yeah, and that's only the start of the "real story," IMO. Everything gets really serious and intense from there, and there is hardly any room for the light-hearted humor that we got from Fumoffu, until later on, where its not really intentional, but it happens though some pretty lame and cheesey happenings in the 10th novel, which from what I know about it, was quite a disappointment after all of the build up leading up to it.
