Elementals: Chapter 25: Alex's Ice Training, Phase 2.

Alex was already in the Training Room again the following morning. His mother had finally gotten a bit more flexible and had let him have a proper breakfast--with more Ice as a desert. He was practicing his Ice powers while he was waiting, unknowing what test awaited him today. After a few moments, his mother walked into the room with a strange device in her arms.

-Morning. She quickly greeted, not even turning her head to face Alex.
-Where's Bessie? He asked.
-She couldn't come. She replied, setting the device on a table in the middle of the room.

Alex rolled his eyes and sighed, just knowing that she had taken the day off to spend it with her boyfriend. He became a little disturbed by the thought, and walked towards the mysterious device resting upon the table. Upon getting a closer look at it, there appeared to be Ice and Water circulating on the inside. Moving his head closer, he finally broke his own silence.

-What is it?
-You'll find out--soon.
-What do you mean? He curiously asked, a wary tone in his voice.
-Here, stand perfectly still in front of it. And concentrate once more, remember, no Fire, only Ice.

Hesitatingly, he stood in front of the crystal ball-looking device, and unwillingly got lost in its hypnotic embrace. He was unable to speak. He felt his mother pace around the room, and without a word, he felt a push on the back on the head, making him fall towards the crystal ball. He found himself unable to move any part of his body, and as in an instant, he found himself in an Icy Paradise. Snow covered hills and mountains decorated the landscape, the tallest and whitest pines governed the skies. As Alex admired all this, he snapped back into realtity and wondered where he was. It couldn't have been the Crystal Ball...that was impossible. And why did his mother push him in? He shrugged, and ignoring his mother's instructions, he warmed himself up with his natural body heat.

After quite a while of walking, he finally spotted a cave. Naturally, he guessed that his test awaited there, and ran towards it, leaving melted snow behind. Upon reaching the cave entrance, he saw nothing inside. Dissapointed, he turned his head and prepared himself for another long walk. But out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a light blue glow dissapearing into a corner. Automatically, he jumped and closely followed. Trailing behind it, curiously, he stumbled upon a large section of the cave, where the glow stopped. When Alex got a clear look at it, it took the shape of a woman, "she" walked around the room, looking at Alex the entire time. She stopped in front of him and caressed his chin, Alex felt extremely nervous, like when Bessie had pulled that little breast-related stunt earlier. She whispered in a musical voice in his ear, he did not understand the words, but he enjoyed the moment nonetheless.

The peaceful moment was soon broken as the mysterious ice woman let out a not-so musical scream. Startled, Alex looked behind him. There stood a creature of pure darkness, looking into its hollow eyes, he felt unexplicably afraid. Unable to move again, the creature sent him flying across the room with one swing of its massive arm. With his last moments of conscious vision, he saw the beast carry the Icy woman out of the cave, she was struggling with his steely grip. And before passing out, he heard the faint words in that musical voice:

-
Help me...

Alex Flamesword woke up with massive pain in his lower legs. Becoming aware, he stood up quickly, creating a strong Ice cover around his left hand. It only took him a couple of second to remember what had happened. Remembering the beast of darkness and the icy woman rying out for help, he ran out of the cave. Looking around desperately, he finally spotted the slow moving beast in the horizon, he heard the musical voice in his head once more, and with unmatched determination, ran after it, the blazing trail behind him refusing to die.
The Beast, hearing the noise of the flames close behind, dropped the Ice woman and turned to face Alex, bracing itself. With a great, blazing impact, Alex Flamesword tackled the Beast, pushing it back several yards, but the sturdy creature remained on its feet. The Beast, coming to a stop, grabbed Alex and attempted to throw him, at which point Alex grabbed its strands of darkness emerging from his head and roped himself from the head to its back, drawing FlameSword and slicing through its chest; emerging from it, Alex quickly turned to face the crumbling beast. When to his great horror, the Beast reformed at the chest, regaining its composure and raising its arm to strike once more at him. Alex dodged the blow swiftly and took a fighting pose with FlameSword, his hands blazing with fire. Feeling discouraged, he desperatly thought:

How am I supposed to do this...?
