Can we not keep posting on the forums out of general convenience (we dont pay for bandwidth, we dont have to mess with code and servers, and we dont have to try and round everyone up and recruit them for a new site), or has this left such a bad taste in your mouth that you're finished?

I want a totally new site... Jeff and Ryan MacDonald basically started this site 12 years ago. They can just make another one.
This is the beginning of the end. I'm leaving GameSpot. I'm sticking to see the fallout. I hope anybody who has any shred of integrity and respect left will quit their jobs. GameSpot US/UK/ and Australia....

I keep see-sawing. I really gotta see the official news, man.

Anyone who think's Jeff leaving is being fired b/c of a review is so off-base. Everyone there's written scathing reviews (and let's remember, 6.0 is not scathing). He could have had another job offer; he might've been a continuing, long-term horrible racist or sexual harrasser necessitating his firing; he might've had a sick relative needing care. We don't know, but it sure wasn't b/c of advertiser pressure.

I don't think there will ever be an "official word". Someone will obviously eventually spill the beans about the entire thing and it will get all across the internets but there will never be an official word specially not on GameSpot, not from CNet, and not from Eidos...
You don't need to be told exactly what happened in complete detail if you have all the clues lined up. It's like walking in on a dead body with a person standing over it and a smoking gun in their hand, when just seconds ago you heard a loud bang. You don't need to be told what happened. It just happened...

I'll be staying.

My compromise is that I canceled my paid subscription and will surf the site with adblocker, which I as a web developer who understands the need for revenue, shuns.
Until everything is fixed on the business level, it may very well be that any content you read has the taint of advertising, so I don't feel bad about adblock.

I can't quite be sure yet. I'm tempted to pack up and leave but without the full story, I'll always be tempted to return out of curiosity. That small element of "maybe it's a misunderstanding" is still around this even if it's almost nonexistent.
Regardless, at best I'll stay around on the forums but as for my subscription, yeah well... *sets fire to it*

I'm staying for the forums, I will no longer trust any reviews until Jeff says he was not fired for that reason.

I'm staying for now, though I mostly just post in my blog and a couple unions.

I'm staying for two UCBs for now... I've been at TotalGamerZone for almost 2 years now and I've found it to be a better place to post since the whole site is community-based... so that's where I'll be 98% of the time now.

I wasn't planning on leaving, but now that GGD has gone down in flames I'm starting to think about it.
