So I've been thinking about this advice a lot lately, having heard a lot of people say it to me. Is it just me, or is this awful advice? The ones who say that seem to be the ones who also say smile and proclaim that money can't buy happiness. O RLY? Well it can buy food, transportation, health insurance, a dental plan, a place to live, and numerous other things we'd pretty damn unhappy without. It seems to me like everyone who says those things is actually financially well off, and is just blissfully ignorant to the fact that their money has indeed bought happiness. The financially stable adults who feed me that line while sipping a 4 dollar cup of coffee from starbucks need to do a little introspection. I personally would rather do a boring job and not have to worry about eating spaghetti 3 times a week, or never getting to retire, or getting cancer and being a victim of the worst healthcare system in the developed world. I can't think of any job that would be more stressful than that.
