I've had fable for about 5 days now, and I'm very pleased. I'm an archer, I slow time and multiply my arrows to make short work of any enemies, and if I get surrounded I used force push. I am 41, married, very thing with greying hair and 4 tattoos. I can't wait to start a new character, but I am too enthralled with the character I have now to care. I do, however, have some minor gripes, not about the game itself, but about the difference between the way it is, and the way it was going to be.
1 - NPC's
Originally - Each person in each town would have their own personality and their own story and name. Much like Morrowind, and the caracters would be realistic enough to remember you and what you have done to them. Like Morrowind, only without seeing the numbers whenever you talk to someone.
Now - Each character is their own person, but there arent many different skin models for NPCs, and no one has a name. They do, however, react to you in ways that show what they think of you, based on the way you've played the game.
2 - The World of Albion
Origionally - Although the previews never seemed to specifically state this, it seemed to me that the world of Albion would be explored much like the world of Morrowind, and you could go anywhere, not just on the paths.
Now - It takes a Zelda like approach, where there is a lot of explorable paths in small divided screen maps, but exits to each map are clearly defined.
3 - Leveling Up
Originally - Leveling up would be completly behind the scenes, and would depend entirly on what you did mostly. The more you used your sword, the better you got at it. A lot like Dungeon Siege, but instead of seeing the numbers growing, it was all invisable.
Now - The more you practice a particular discipline, the more experience points you get in that discipline. Spending experience points levels you up.
4 - Aging
Origionally - As the game progressed you would grow up slowly, finally reaching adulthood.
Now - The aging process is dependent on the story. You advance the story from childhood to adolescence, and then to adulthood, at cetain crossroads in the game.
Thats about it really. The game itself is awesome. The only gripe I have without including what it could have been would be the camera. Its not as dynamic as I would have liked, and there is no first person mode. Other than that, I can't wait to start my thief game!
