Didn't completely suck! The original was absolutely awful. Even if you have never even HEARD of the either franchise, it was idiotic.
This however, was actually pretty good! There was some stupidity, but was more of the characters being idiots stupid, not surviving for extended periods of time in the middle of Antarctic winter stupid.
We even got a glimpse of what we assume is the Predator home world! Looked a lot like how I imagined it...
There were some discrepancies with the actual franchises, like the Alien's acid blood is not actually so powerful that it'll melt you're arm off. But, it's forgiven.
I enjoyed it.
