Hey again, GameSpotters! Just thought I would update the blog again with a few things. Once again, I'm proud of how this page has been coming along the past few months. I've tried my darnedest to keep good stuff coming, and I'd like to think I've done a swell job with that lately. Anyways, pointless self-pride aside, let me get to this entry, as I don't need to make this one too long...

...in fact this first topic is an in-and-out subject. Is it just me, or has it gotten REALLY cold since fall rolled around? I'm not one who tries to use heaters all of the time, but the fact that we (the family) have had to break ours out so soon and use them so extensively makes the past week or so kind of crazy. I hear that there's been some rather chilly weather elsewhere, too, so I just find it rather nuts, to be perfectly honest. Time to get out the winter clothes (which for me, is only a few long-sleeved shirts, as I wear pants year-around).

One thing that has kept me kind of warm, though, is A Boy and His Blob, which is a combination of a heart-warming bond and a few challenges that can fire you up in a good way. After almost nine hours of play, I can now say that I've beaten the game. While not EVERYTHING I expected it to be, this is by all means a great game, and it's something that I would encourage Wii owners that want a worthwhile experience to give a shot by at least renting. I was going to go into an impression of it earlier, but I think it's better that I save my words for a review, which I'll try to do once I've completed the game (and find the motivation to actually write the review, so wish me luck). My apologies for not doing what I intended to do, but I hope that my future review will make up for it and give everyone a better idea of what to expect from the game.

My last topic is something I've had on the brain for a while, but never got around to expression. Although I'm not very active in the unions I'm already a part of (I try, but it's now something that I think about often), I'm thinking making a union or two myself. I won't say too much about the unions themselves at the moment, as I just don't think it's that time. However, if anyone knows anything about this, I'd like to know your thoughts as to how to get a successful union established. While I'm on this subject about unions, my apologies to all of the invitations and those who have sent them to me over the past... year or so. I just don't see myself as that active of a member to be in so many unions, so it's difficult for me to consider them and commit to them fully. I do appreciate all of the invites, though (despite some of them making NO sense as far as my tastes in gaming goes), as at least that means I have some level of recognition around here.

Well, I think this will suffice for now. Thanks for reading once again. Until next time, peace!

I welcome the cold. Fall and Winter are my favorite time of the year . Though it is surprisingly cold. It feels more like winter than fall here.

Glad to hear you enjoyed A Boy and His Blob . I think I will put it on my wishlist for christmas this year! It looks like a pretty fun platformer. I do have a question though, how long are the levels?

I actually like the cold myself, but it just came too quickly. It's almost like when the season officially changed, the weather got 40 degrees cooler. That's something that's hard for the body to deal with. I'll get used to it, I suppose, but it's still very much an adjustment period.

Yep. To say that I enjoyed A Boy and His Blob would be a decent way of putting it; it REALLY got going during the game's final stages. Anyways, the normal levels are actually quite lengthy in size. I can't put it into any true terms, but they're typically longer than your average Mario or Sonic level, if that helps. The challenge levels, on the other hand, are very brief so far. You'll also be spending a good deal of time dying in this game, so expect to be in some stages for quite a while. Still, it's not too frustrating at all, seeing as how checkpoints are in just about every area you're going to fall in.

To give you a better idea of what I mean. I calculated my time through the main game to be 8 hours 55 minutes, and we're talking about 40 levels. It's meatier than you might expect.

I love the Equinoxs. Autumn is my fav, though. The Holidays (mostly, Halloween), the moderate temps, etc... Spring has Walpurgiznacht (Satanic celebration of Witchcraft and links with the Dead), but loses cool points due to pollen.
If you're into mucho RETRO games, try out the "Retro Vault" Union. I'm a member and it's pretty cool.

That long? Now I want it even more . I'm torn between so many games as is .

The Blob game would have slipped completely under my radar if I hadn't read this blog. I might give that a try if I can get it sent from Gamefly. I think my kids will dig it, as well as myself.

And you're right...it is getting cold pretty quickly. Either that, or I'm just so spoiled. I know my house has central heating so if I am cold, I turn the heat on. It's a bad habit I'm sure, with gas prices and what not, but my wife complains if the heat isn't on, so what are ya gonna do?

I don't know much about unions, except to say that I've received numerous invites but never joined. I just don't give this site enough of my time or attention to make it worthwhile either to myself or to the unions in question.

I think I understand what you mean. The Equinoxes are pretty nice moments throughout the year. I've just personally found this Autumn to be too much like Winter thus far. It's a bit more of an adjustment period than usual. Also, I'll look into the Retro Vault, even though I don't know how much time I'll actually be devoting into it.

Well, by typical 2D platforming standards, I guess that is rather long, isn't it? But yeah, it wouldn't hurt to at least give the game a look. Once again, I'll try to get a review up as soon as possible in order to help answer any other questions one might have about the game.

I think that's a superb idea, actually. I wouldn't call A Boy and His Blob completely niche, but renting the game is probably a bit safer than outright buying it in this case. I'm just pleased I took that route personally. Anyways, I'm glad to know that I've done some good here with this blog entry by making you aware of the game. As far as kids go, I'm not sure if this is the ideal game for them to play, due to its challenge level, but its cartoon-like visuals should draw their attention for a while. I had a cousin over for the weekend who managed to catch glimpse of the game and watch me play it for a while, so I think it has that kind of charm.

Nah... there's no being spoiled about this weather; it's just really cold right now. I don't blame anyone for wanting to turn on the heat right about now, as I think you have to have Mr. Freeze-like tolerance with cold weather to deal with it otherwise. What I wouldn't do for a little central heating right about now, but alas, this is a pretty old-fashioned house I'm living in at the moment, and the budget we have as a family wouldn't come close to adding something like that to the place. We'll manage.

Good luck in finding motivation to write a review. The audience would be grateful!

Talking about the weather, just the opposite here: the days are getting hot and rainy in Brazil...
