When you think of great child actors from the 1960's the names Ron Howard, Kurt Russell, Jerry Mathers, etc. come to mind. These days it seems that no one remembers Darby Hinton, most famous for playing Israel Boone on the 1964-70 frontier drama Daniel Boone. Hinton, though largely forgotten today, was one of the best child actors of that era. He made Israel Boone an engaging and believable character and was one of the most popular child actors then working in television. But alas, unlike say Russell and Howard, Hinton never had the career as an adult that he did as a child. Perhaps that's the main reason he's not as well remembered today as he should be. With the long-awaited release of Daniel Boone on DVD many TV viewers will get the chance to re-discover Hinton and his talents. That's a good thing.

Hannibal A. Goose was a tremendous talent as an actor yet he suffered from a temperamental personality that made it impossible for him to find work in Hollywood. TV viewers might remember him from the 1964-70 NBC frontier drama Daniel Boone where he played Israel Boone's pet goose. It was Hannibal's show biz apex. He fast became a favorite of the show's fans and received more fan mail than any of the human actors. He even won a Golden Globe award for 1965 as Best Animal Actor beating out Arnold the Pig from Green Acres and Lassie. But alas, Hannibal's failure to get along with fellow Daniel Boone cast members led to a suspension from the show. A massive letter writing campaign organized by members of Hannibal's fan club led to his re-instatement but he was fired again (for good this time) after flubbing 31 takes in one of his scenes. Hannibal would claim a few years later that one of his fellow cast members drugged his snack food thus causing him to mess up when the cameras were rolling.

After his dismissal from Daniel Boone, the word was put out in Hollywood. Don't hire Hannibal A. Goose because he's trouble to work with on the set. So, despite his talent, Hannibal never worked again after Daniel Boone except for a couple of commercials. He ended up being served as Christmas Dinner in a Los Angeles homeless shelter in 1971 just another in a long line of Hollywood tragedies.

With the release of Superman this summer we will now be bombarded with images of star Kate Bosworth. They will tell us that she is the next big thing in Hollywood. They will tell us that she is a Katie Holmes with talent. But don\'t you believe it. I tell you it\'s a lie. This girl is an average at best actress who\'s just the latest product of the Hollywood hype machine. We, the public, must suffer through it until someone finally points out that the Empress is wearing no clothes. Oh well, at least when Katie is exposed for the no talent that she is, she\'ll have her relationship with Orlando Bloom to fall back on. Just like that other Katie who rides on the coattails of her boyfriend. But at least the other Katie appears to have a healthy appetite. The least Kate Bosworth could do is eat something.

As far as Simple Life goes, Paris Hilton seems to always bear the brunt of any criticism. She's a spoiled brat, she's a stupid twit, she's useless, etc., etc. I agree with nearly every bad thing that's been said about Ms. Hilton. She makes an excellent Poster Girl for Useless People.

But there's one thing many seem to omit when criticizing The Simple Life. The other half of the gruesome twosome--Nicole Richie. It's time she got proper credit too. She's every bit as useless as Paris Hilton and probably even more trashy. What has this stupid twit ever done to deserve her moment of fame besides get adopted by a celebrity? She's a zero, a nothing. All she's done has been to ride on Paris Hilton's coattails. If you have to ride on the coattails of a total loser like that, what does that say about you?
