GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

If you've watched MachineCAST Episode 18 (and if you haven't, please do), you'll know that in order to hold me over until the UK release of Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time on the 6th of November, I downloaded WipEout HD from the PlayStation Store, and it is an utterly fantastic looking thing.

Zone mode is the prime example of this - the track is stripped bare of textures and pulsates in time with the music track, as you pilot an ever-accelerating ship through the various speed levels - Venom, Flash, Rapier, Phantom and beyond, into the realm of Zen and Subsonic speeds, until you crash into the track sides too much and you explode, the game ending. The colours of the track change as the speed increases and an awesome robotic voice announces the new speed level. It looks just...actually, just take a look for yourself!

If you're not already inclined, look it up on YouTube and be convined. If you decide you want in on the WipEout scene, just go buy it in a shop or from the PlayStation Store and drop me a message when you fancy a game!

Are the music tracks just basslines or actual songs?
And how does it control? I've had one Wipeout game, for the PS2 i think, and seem to remember it being slightly janky at times

Actual songs with hefty basslines. You can also use your own music and the track still pulsates to the tunes.

It controls very smoothly, no worries there.

No, the only song I knew from before I got the game was Exceeder by Mason. But if you ever come round and play it, you'll know that the music just suits the game.
