I need advise from my friends here on gamespot. I want to write my first review for the game far cry 2. I do alot of writing while not on gs and would like to throw my hat in the reviews ring. Since this is new territory for me i would like advise from the community on do's, don't's, and or tips for going about this. I enjoy writing anyways and want to be able to contribute to my love of gaming. Any and all advise is welcomed

I don't really know what advice to give you. Just type up a review, there's not much more to it.

There's a lot of advice I could give, but I'll keep it simple. Use separate paragraphs for separate ideas and make sure to use proper grammar/punctuation. Nothing bugs me more than a giant single paragraph with no capital letters or punctuation marks. Oh, and spell stuff out. Can the leet speak crap.

What I find is the best way is to approach things by starting out with a quick overview of what the game is about (no spoilers obviously), and then explain what the core gameplay is. After that, you start your critique of the gameplay, and all the other things that make the game good/bad.
I always try to analyze the graphics, sound/music, how long the game is, online features and just overall how the game left me feeling. If something impressed me, I mention it. If I found something that turned me off, I put it in there. And then I finish off with a quick overview, wrapping up my opinion of it.

Write on:
1) 1st thoughts, what did you feel when you first started playing the game.
2) Overall Gameplay, what game is about, what did you like, what must you do in the game.
3) Game abilities, single player, multiplayer, special or unique featuressettings
4) Graphics vs previous titles or similar type of games.
5) Glitches, Developer Recommendations, Awards.
6) Last thoughts, would you recommend it and why, then personal rating.

hmm....you have to try to be nonpartial..which is a really hard thing to do...all my reviews kinda spout a little of why i liked the game, for example if a game's controls are really smooth and consistent, point that out, same with graphics...some people care little about graphics and more about gameplay, while some the opposite....
