I don't have a lot of extra cash floating around, what with medical bills to pay so I never thought I would have to resort to this. But I think I might have to buy a new console just to play a video game!
Indigo Prophecy was one of my favorite games. And now the same developer is coming out with Heavy Rain, a PS3 exclusive. Everything I see and read about the game makes me want it more. The graphics look amazing, the story seems intriguing and the game play unique.
Thank goodness the price of the PS3 came down – I might have to get one just to play this game! I have never owned all the consoles of a generation before. It feels so decadent!

I remember that blog.
Anyway, I am always slow to dish out the money, so if I am talking about it now that means I won't spend my money for at least a couple of months, plenty of time for the reviews to come out.

I have been tempted by blu-ray but as Mae West said, "I generally avoid temptation unless I can resist it."
@MJoanne: Yeah, and I think she said something about pickles... anyway... get the PS3!
I found it completely annoying when I got HD cable for my HD TV that I had to go out and buy HDMI cables. It was like buying an electrical cord for my toaster.
@Frame_Dragger
The only person more quotable than Mae West is Bruce Campbell or Sheldon from Big Band Theory. I am still considering the PS3.
I hope this generation will be here for awhile. All these consoles are expensive!
@GeekyDad
After RPGs, adventure games are my favorite genre.
It is a big step.
@AlmightyMax
It is the exclusives that make us buy another console. LittleBigPlanet looks awfully temtping.
If a used game gets that expensive that means it is good.
@pigfish2
If Heavy Rain is a let down then I have a blu-ray player that I can game with.
I am hoping to swing it, the price drop helps.
@Frame_Dragger
It is not a question of hate but money - the budget is tight.
@twilightlullaby
Thanks, gaming is always fun or what's the point!
@Subterranean500
The game looks great, I just hope it is half as good as Indigo Prophecy.
Yeah, I don't like exclusives. Being made to buy all the consoles in order to play the games you want is tough.
Just remember, if you enjoy your Atari (or notjessica, you played Castlevania:OoE) then you already don't mind older graphics... you like the game. A year from now, or two, or even three, Heavy Rain, GoW3 and the like will still be a blast to play (hopefully).
But when you see something cool, it's hard not to want it.
It always irritated me when gamers brag about the number of exclusives their console of choice has. I would think that a developer would want their game on as many consoles as possible in order to sell more games. It makes me wonder how much a console manufacturer must pay to keep a game exclusive.
@notjessica
I try to buy games that I enjoy enough to play again and again. That is also why I look for games with a strong replay component.
I haven't played any of the Kingdom Hearts games but they intrigue me. Have you played Kingdom Hearts 358/2 yet?
@Foolz3h
I was confused at first when you mentioned Fahrenheit until I remembered that the game was only called Indigo Prophecy in North America. I really appreciated how innovative the it was and I hope Heavy Rain lives up to it.
It is hard to be a budget gamer.
I prefer games that are strong on the storyline and it seems like that will be the case for Heavy Rain.
@msudude211
Thanks. The possibility is getting bigger.
When money is tight it is hard to justify spending that much on a gaming system.

If you're just thinking of getting one just for Heavy Rain, I'd wait until the reviews come out. I looks great, but you never know. It could be a dissapointment.
