Do you believe Hip Hop is Dead?
Category:
Music

I know there's alot of people who would want to disagree with me when i say that Hip Hop is dead. I know that there are somepeople who would agree with me when i say that Hip Hop is dead. You cant deny the facts of the matter though. Last year the only Rap artist to go platinum was TI. And since 05 - present day, record sales have went down by over 20% . People rather use thier I-pods and download one hit songs from a recording artist than by the whole album. Everyone sounds the same, and raps about the exact same thing in a different beat. No one is creative any more. Personaly, my opinion is that, hip hop lost its taste, its essence, and its heart. Our culture is dieing out because we have no sence of our hip hop back ground. Mc's are just hear to make money, period. DJ's are scared to play anything of a different sylez(spelled wrong on purpous)than what area they live. Its this New York, Dirty South baby non sence of ( New York rappers lost its flavor and the South is takin it over). Rap used to be a raggs to riches story. It use to also be a tool to educate people. But now its all about Rap Dance crazes that go out dated a few months from when it came out. Or cars, or all the so called "Ice" around their neck. Rap is souly and genrally marketed to the male gender, but at the same time brings down the very gender that buys into them. Just because your listenting to something you think you like and makes you want to dance, it might not be what you really should be listening to. Realize that you dont want to listent to somthing that is derogitory toward you and insulting you, and dont buy into it. Simple as that. Theres so much more i can keep goin on buy what i really want to do is listen to YOUR INPUT!!! What ever your thought or oppinion is, who ever you are, i want to hear.

That Real Good Feal Good Music - Steph Jones, a new upcoming r&b/Alternative/soul artist. The real future of music!

MySpace Settles on Spam

Social networking company gets $2.55 million in cash from The Globe.com.
May 31, 2007

By Leah Messinger

MySpace on Thursday said it settled a lawsuit against The Globe.com, one year after the popular social networking site sued the advertising and gaming company for sending spam to its members.

The social networking site did not provide terms, but a regulatory filing by The Globe.com earlier this month said the settlement was worth $2.55 million.

MySpace claimed that Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based The Globe.com sent almost 400,000 unsolicited email messages to MySpace users from 95 or more dummy accounts. The lawsuit, filed last June, accused The Globe.com of violating the California Business and Professions Code and the federal CAN-SPAM Act.

The 2003 CAN-SPAM Act limits the types of emails that companies are allowed to send, defines penalties for violating the law, and offers protection for consumers. It is the same law that so-called "Spam King" Robert Alan Soloway was accused of violating by a federal grand jury in Seattle yesterday.

U.S. District Judge R. Gary Klausner in February found The Globe.com liable for violating both the federal law and the state code, according to an SEC document filed that month by The Globe.com.

That company's most recent quarterly report estimated it could have been liable for as much as $120 million in penalties under the CAN-SPAM Act alone. But the parties settled in March of this year and on April 18, The Globe.com forked over just $2.55 million in cash.

MySpace and The Globe.com were not immediately available for comment. MySpace may have agreed to the small amount because The Globe.com could be headed for bankruptcy. The gaming company's recent report indicates that without additional capital, "management does not believe that the Company [sic] will be able to fund its operations beyond May 2007."

The Globe.com suit is one of several over the past couple of years brought by MySpace against spammers and phishers, who try to get passwords and other personal information via email and the web. MySpace has sued both individual and corporate spammers.
