Everything's fine today, that is our illusion.

Okay, so a little time has passed now (and no, I don't mean since the last time I blogged.... even though that's true) and I'm thinking about the amount of violence I've been seeing around the way ever since they've put up this 'brilliant' little bar. First, about thirty minutes ago (1:20 AM) I start to hear all this ruckus outside and more four-letter words than you could count with an abacus. Great, I peek out the window being the Curious George of the situation, and lo and behold we have Evander Holyfield versus Iron Mike part three! That plus a group of at least seven or so spectators that do a semi-good job of breaking it up (thanks). So..... I went downstairs to grab a few peanutbutter sandwiches and think a little more.

What did I come up with? Well, I remembered that this also happened to be the bar where the unfortunate death of an young man happened by gunshot just a few months prior. And while I don't know if the bar was directly involved, it sure seems likely, doesn't it? That's been the worst case of "bar rage" so far, but these brawls are starting to become numerous. Want to know what's worse? It's not the fact that I live right across from this bar, but it's the fact this bar happens to be placed RIGHT NEXT to a children's playground (where a preschool is wherein located). Great idea!! Okay, but that's not the only thing nearby: there's also a sports field for youngins and elementary school within a block's distance. Wow, owner destroy one too many brain cells? Yes methinks.

By the way, whatever happened to the infamous line where'd the bartender would say "I think you've had enough" instead of just letting the drunk get drunker? Apparently... it's no longer in use.

Okay so I didn't get to watch (I'm very disappointed in you, DirecTV). I missed out on some serious Flyers hockey action tonight. As exciting as "play by play" on foxsports.com is, I decided to retire to an absolutely extraordinary reading of Michael Chrichton's "Jurassic Park". Yeah, we lost, nothing a faithful Philadelphian couldn't predict however. I dare not dream that we'll be winning the Stanley Cup this year, but we'll be squashing these Buffa-loons, you can't just go away quietly after getting all these guys pumped up with the signing of Peter Forsberg.... plus, Hitchcock just isn't the kind of guy to pack his bags after the first round, ask anybody.

That aside, I'm actually not rooting for the Flyers (completely) this post-season. I'm cheering my socks off for the Red Wings, or perhaps I should say, Steve Yzerman. It would be one heck of a happy ending (why wouldn't you retire?) for this guy to go out on hoisting one last Stanley Cup above his head. Go Stevie!!!

Finally some real relaxation. Christmas was great, I actually really didn't have any big expectations going into it (maybe because last year I was vacationing in Florida for Christmas, and it really felt different away from home sweet home - not that it was bad, just different) but it turned out pretty heartwarming. There's been a lot of stuff going on before Christmas with me, and it just feels good to take a break from it, re-charging those batteries, eh? Plus, who can resent gifts from others? That never gets old. And a special someone really liked those golden earrings she got from the "grand master" (okay that's the last time I call myself that, I promise), yippie-kai-yay. Then again, you know things are going all right if I can post a little ol' blog on here, right? Even though that's been quite a while, haven't done this since I took that other vacation down the shore (I guess I take a lot a vacations....). And since I haven't been on here in a while, I took a look at those old pending submissions...... still pending. I actually got a good laugh out of that one, so I'm not complaining. Uh, anyways enough of "me me me" - hope all the other friendly people here have had some good times over the holidays too, just don't knock yourself out on New Year's.
