I’ve had that old Vapor Trails theme for about a year
without changing it and I figured with the new Rush album coming out May 1st
I would change my theme. I realize that
this may not be the album cover design here, it still hasn’t been released, but
this bit of Hugh Symns(sp?) art looks pretty good anyway. I might add to the blog header, it’s quite
plain and it’s a tad too tall. Other
than that I’m happy. I think it flows
well with the rest of the site.
Speaking of the album, it’s gonna be totally awesome! I’ve heard the Far Cry single a few times now
and it sounds really good. Should be a
good album coming out.
Can’t wait for the tour dates to come out, hopefully that’ll
happen soon. I sure hope they’re coming
to Calgary. You’d think they would as they are a Canadian
band. I’d sure like to hear some old klassicks (apparently the word CL4SSIC is censored
) played later this year like 2112, The Pass, and The Trees.
and now here is Rush. Sure, Geddy Lee is playing a cello instead of a bass, but small potatoes.

This one works as well

music. Some think rap is the best, some are for punk, and metal,
classical, progressive, blues, country, you name it. Many reasons they
have are valid. Some think that rap has that undeniable beat that just
can’t be reached by rock music. Many think otherwise. Many think that
classical music is a more mature and gentle kind of music, and some
think otherwise. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, after all.
That’s what democracy’s all about.
But is any music “better”
than other music? The answer is no. Music is entirely subjective, based
on what’s popular, how you were brought up, your geographic location,
and many more factors. I really can’t stand people who think that their
music is better than someone else’s. Who made them arbitrary leader of
all things music? Why are they more enlightened than others? Why?
Nothing makes them better. In fact, it makes them worse because they
are so blind that they can’t see the simple fact that music is
subjective to taste.
Obviously everyone has their preference.
I myself prefer classic rock and progressive rock such as Yes, Jethro
Tull, Dream Theatre, and Iron maiden. I also enjoy a smattering of
classical, folk, country, blues, metal, modern rock, and punk. And if
someone says they like rap, (which I personally don’t care for), I will
say “good for you.” There was once a French philosipher named
François-Marie Arouet de Voltaire. He said this; “I may not agree with
your opinion, but I defend to the death your right to say it.” I think
he should have also said this; “I may not agree with your opinion, but
I respect it nonetheless.”
Wouldn’t our world be a little
better if we just respected each others’ opinions? And I don’t just
mean in music. I’m talking about life in general. Where people don’t
have a superiority complex and think they’re better than all the rest
and where People listen to each other and take heed to what they say.
Because there is no real "good" taste in anything. It is merely a
different taste than some of those around you.
