Today is Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.  This is a subject that hits very close to home since my husband is Armenian.  The Armenian Genocide began in 1915 and was perpetrated by the Ottoman Turks.  More than 1.5 million Armenians were slaughtered, including most of my husband's ancestors.  His grandfather happened to be out of the country when the genocide began or he would have most likely been killed as well.  His siblings were killed with the exception of a sister (who only survived because she hid under a pile of corpses) and two very young sisters who were taken as sex slaves by the Turks.  This is why my husband is the only one left to carry on his last name.  I hope that I have a boy first so that the pressure is off!

Did you know that this is how Hitler got the idea for the Holocaust.  He was quoted as saying, "Who remembers the Armenians?"  Yet most of you probably aren't even aware that this genocide took place.  I never knew until I met my husband.  The worst part about it is that Turkey still denies it to this day.  There was actually a rally in Washington D.C. yesterday, in which Turks held signs claiming that Armenians slaughtered Turks and they are the ones guilty of mass murder.  In fact, if someone in Turkey mentions the Armenian Genocide, they are thrown in prison.  Most countries in Europe have already recognized this tragedy as genocide, but the U.S. has not.  They are threatened by Turkey, and they are afraid to stand up against them.  Most U.S. states have recognized the genocide on their own.  This brings me to the main point of this blog.  We need to support House and Senate Resolutions 106.  This would bring a vote to the floor, and if it passes the genocide would officially be recognized by the United States.

Please visit the ANCA (Armenian National Committee of America) website.  I don't want to post the link here...not sure if I'm allowed.  Just do a search for ANCA and you'll find it.  They have a click for justice campaign to support the House and Senate Resolutions 106 (if you live in the U.S.).  You just enter some info including your zip code and the e-mail is sent directly to your state representative.  If you can spare a couple of minutes for this cause, it would be greatly appreciated and will surely make a difference.

We need to take a stand against genocide.  It still happens today, and we do nothing to stop it.  In fact, most of you know that it is happening right now.  Why is this allowed to happen?

Thank you for reading my blog!  I appreciate your time!!!

ETA:  There was a documentary on PBS last year about the Armenain Genocide and it was actually narrated by ER's own Julianna Margulies.

Of course ER is first and foremost for me, but recently Prison Break has climbed to #2 on my favorites list.  I started watching it in August since the season premiere started before all of the other shows, and I was looking for something to watch.  I  never planned on getting completely hooked on this show!  This show is extremely well-written, and Wentworth Miller is superb!  The show is action packed, and I am on the edge of my seat most of the time!  It's a nice way to enjoy Monday nights!

I don't know many people who watch Prison Break, so I thought I'd write a blog and see if anyone else agrees with me!   If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend reading up on the characters and giving it a shot.  I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I just decided to write a little blog about Abby. Since this is my blog, I can state my opinion without pissing people off or offending anyone (hopefully). I am sick of the "Abby-throwing-coffee debate". It was an inappropriate action by Abby. Yes, we can all agree on that! They should've just left it alone and not brought the man into the ER. I agree with that. I am not going to let that scene make me dislike a character though. I also agree that they used to portray Abby as SuperAbby. However, I love the way the character has evolved this season. Why do some people feel the need to only focus on the negative things about Abby? Haven't there been some positive changes this season? Some people will always have a negative view of Abby and see her as all-knowing. That's too bad because she's the lead female now, and she is a huge part of the show. If I only focused on the negative aspects of the ER characters, particularly the leads, I would ruin the show for myself. I would hate to see people do that with only a limited time left for ER.

I also love the way that Maura Tierney portrays Abby. Abby is the lead female currently, whether or not we like her. Abby, Luka, and Neela inject some much-needed humor into ER. It's about time that we have some humor here. I am thoroughly enjoying it! Maura Tierney's excellent comedic timing is a breath of fresh air. Also, there would be no way that ER could survive if Maura or Goran left the show. Especially with the developments between the two characters this season.

Every character on ER has done inappropriate things. I thought that Luka sleeping with a patient's mother in a storage closet was absolutely horrible, but did that make me dislike his character? NO!!!! No character is perfect, and I think that everyone is just looking for a reason to jump on the I-Hate-Abby bandwagon again. Why can't everyone just enjoy the beauty that is Season 12? We might not have our beloved show much longer, so let's just enjoy our new and refreshing ER!

Some people just don't have opinions. Like LubyLuby.
LubyLuby must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could LubyLuby possibly have for not rating a single film?
