My cousin was a fortunate individual to purhase a Nintendo Wii.  Since I own a PS3 I tried to be as fair as possible when comparing the Wii to the PS3.  My conclusion; it can't be done.  It is impossible to compare the PS3 and the Wii.

The Wii is in a league of its own.  Whether good or bad it is honestly up to the person playing.  So here is my breakdown of the system.  The Wii design is very small and stylish which I really like.  The controller however is where my problem lies.

At first it is very difficult to control the system however, after playing for a while its not too bad.  I did feel my heart race every time someone moved the controller really fast because I thought it was going to fly off their hands.  In addition, having to keep the control steady is not an easy task to do.  While playing Red Steel, the controller has to be very steady to keep the gun pointed in the right direction.  In my test of Zelda I was expecting a masterpiece.  My take, didn't play but has the qualities of a masterpiece however, the graphics looked horrible.  Not that I take graphics into a huge consideration because I still play NES games, for a next gen, everything is so blurry.  Now I have heard that using a component cable may fix this issue, for now I will go with what I have seen and played.
More to come...

I will be honest the first thing that caught my attention was your LP avatar. LPU REPRESENT! huge LP fan right here

also, I own all three next-gen systems as well as building a new $5,000 gaming PC. The PS3 is "sleek" but whenever I use it, I get the impression its more like a business tool, and that I should be wearing a suit and tie while playing Motorstorm.

The Wii, although fun and adictive at parties, is rather limited by its mundane hardware. I'd have been willing to pay $100 more and get a better GPU and motion sensing system in there. As for 360, and I don't mean to sound like a fanboy, is perfect. not flawless (it is anything but) but it is perfect. perfect blend of multiplayer, controls, game library, XBLA, Marketplace.... everything. the only drawback would be some rather cryptic errors and glitches that haunt many people (Ring of Death, anyone?)

anyway, that's my two cents!

I agree that it isn't fair to compare any of the three since they all have their strencths and weaknesses. However, it isn't fair to wonder if a shark or a bear would win in a duel to the death, and I still do that!

I'm not a fan boy. The last two systems that I've bought have been Playstations. I was incredibly happy with the systems. I've recently moved back to Nintendo and am extremely pleased with the choice.

The controller is what everyone talks about, but I don't think it's fair to say "the" controller. There are two ways used very often to use just the wiimote. Add the nunchuck and there is three! Then there is the option of the classic controller (which will become more frequent as more titles are produced). FINALLY there is the option of using the perfectly capable cube controller. Next we have backwards compatibility. Sure the other consoles can play older games. The wii can use the old memory card and the old controllers and does a better job with emulation of the past system. But what about the retro games?! The Virtual Console has a more extensive list than the other consoles and boasts a greater backlog of games that people are chomping at the bit to download.

Exclusives anyone? Playstation is losing it's exclusives because of the lack of installation (at this stage of the game). Xbox doesn't really have many true exclusives, since the MS games will eventually be released for PC (see Halo franchise). Nintendo leaps ahead!

For everyone who is worried about graphics. Look at Kirby! Look at Chrono Trigger! Look at Resident Evil 4! As the studios get to know the hardware, they'll produce better graphics. Regardless, the games won't be any more fun to play if you have a few extra pixels (which for the most part won't be noticed).

The rate of installation is unprecedented. The games will come with this since no company is going to say "let's cut our possible market by close to 50% since we don't want to work with those hardware specs.

Finally, Nintendo has truely differentiated itself in a mature market (not that people are mature in the market, but that the market has been around for a while and for the most part there is a standard for people to succeed). PS3 and 360 can't compete on hardware alone. A PC will ruin it every time with the possibilities of upgrades and the constant evolution in the product and the pricing advantage of outdated hardware.

I'm not a fan boy. I promise. I just can't see that Nintendo has that much competition and without real competition, Nintendo will sweep this generation of consoles.

I'd like a Wii, but I spent what money I had left on a 360. I still like my decision, though.

Effthat, the graphics of Resident Evil 4 are that of the PlayStation 2's. Average.

It took a while to get the wii because it be sold out but it was worth buying and the games might not have the best graphics but the fun part is the gameplay itself.
