An acquaintance introduced me to this band in 2006. But he made a grave mistake. He told me that they'd broken up, which he thought was the case since they hadn't released an album in five years. That was definitely not the case. Anyhow, I liked the songs he sent me, so I bought their first two albums.

One day on the bus ride home, I picked up the SF Weekly, and saw an ad -- Circa Survive and Ours. I thought to myself, "Could it really be Ours?" I did a quick search online, and discovered it really was them, and quickly purchased a ticket for the show. Even though they were the opener, and it was a tough crowd, I couldn't have been happier with what I heard. They were even more exciting to watch live than I'd anticipated.

Since 2006, I've been to over 20 Ours' shows. I've made a lot of changes in my life, and strange as it may seem to some, their music helped me heal. Their latest album, Mercy, brings a powerful message of hope. I encourage everyone to give them a listen. Jimmy Gnecco's vocals and lyrics are amazing, but the entire band has a unique sound that blows my mind.

I quite enjoyed this movie. Ian McKellan was fabulous, as always, as was Patrick Stewart. Halle Berry really stepped up, and should be commended. Very entertaining, solid movie for the third in a series. I liked it a lot better than the second one.

Stupidest film I've seen all year... but that's a good thing! Lots of laughs here, and I just totally adore Seth Rogen. If you want my advice, go in expecting nothing, and you'll love this flick.

This time, I opted NOT to re-read the book near to the movie being released, because if I did, I'd be so much more nitpicky about what the left out. I enjoyed it a lot more because of this. The brief scenes with Cho and Harry were cute, and I really enjoyed seeing how grown up the kids have gotten. Good movie, not my favorite, but still decent.

I went to see Sicko on the weekend, on the recommendation of a friend. I really enjoyed it, despite not being a fan of Michael Moore's other work. I was a bit apprehensive when it opened with a man doing his own stitches because he didn't have insurance. I was a bit worried it would be really gross for the entire movie, but thankfully it didn't end up that way. I found it a pretty big learning experience, since I didn't know all that much about the healthcare in other countries. It does seem that healthcare in the U.S. needs a big overhaul. It really saddened me hearing some of the stories--like the 9/11 workers that couldn't get the care they needed; or the man that lost the tips of two fingers and could only get one put back on. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who thinks they're safe because they have a healthcare plan!

Now I just need to move to Canada, or maybe France! :)

Ryan Phillippe has come a long way since "Cruel Intentions." I used to be somewhat irritated be him, since I didn't feel he was really much of an actor (more just a pretty face). This movie really shows that's no longer the case. He plays a young, determined FBI agent hopeful Eric O'Neill, who must keep an eye on senior agent Robert Hanssen (Chris Cooper).

At first Eric is told that he is to surveil Hanssen because he is a "sexual deviant" who might embarass the FBI. But when Eric realizes that Hanssen is two months away from retirement, he knows it's something deeper. He soon discovers he's neck-deep in one of the biggest cases of counter-intelligence in FBI history.

The movie very quick-paced, and the audience is often on the edge of their seat, wondering if he'll get caught. Despite the fact that Hanssen has outsmarted everyone for years, giving numerous information to the Russians, O'Neill is eventually able to earn his trust. There are some really touching moments between Phillippe and Cooper.

As soon as I left the theatre, I called my mom to tell her she should go see it too. Very well-written movie.

It's a very simple story, when it comes down to it, about a girl who is a bit neurotic after having a relationship end and a former pop-star trying to climb his way back to the spotlight. I liked the underlying message, that when you're inspired, you can create great art. I also found the bits with the teenage superstar quite funny. The concert scenes reminded me a lot of a Britney Spears' concert I saw in Las Vegas several years ago.

This was a great movie, way better than I'd hoped! I figured it'd be pretty lame, since it was the third Major League, with pretty much nobody (except two) from the original movie. I really think this would have done well in the theatres if it was under a new name. Scott Bakula was great. I didn't really like the guy they chose to play "Downtown." He was supposed to be a really arrogant rookie, but he seemed a bit too old for the part. Overall, a very good baseball movie.

This could have been released in the theatres. It was definitely a lot better than the last one (Band Camp) and recaptured the charm of the first movie, with the lead being an innocent, less-experienced guy.

Really enjoyed this one, though not as much as the original. It was definitely the perfect follow-up, seeing the group of friends on their summer vacation at the lake. The band camp scenes were priceless.
