2008 marks the Celebration of 40 Years of my main-stay band called "CHAIN", Which is a record for an Aussie band to have been together that long and still continuing to tour, record and play as a full time unit.
2008 also marks my 50th year of reading, performing and writing music and still loving it. So it is a fab year all round. It goes without any doubt that the longer you play a song the better and more exciting it becomes. But Music to me is the most beautiful thing in this crazy world we live in now in 2008. Dear Music Lovers,
Oz band Chain has just finished 12 gigs around Australia supporting American Band the 'Doobie Brothers". I must say that the Doobie Brothers in my opinion are one of the most Professional and Talented bunch of Musicians that I have heard in a group sense for a lot of years. Every guy in that band was first class with their individual Instruments and Vocals. I think Tom Johnston is the voice of rock music and John McFee is a multi-instrumental wizard. The 2 Drum-set combination of Mike Hossack and Ed Toth was very refined and both possess great technique and feel . The bass man "Skylark" really balanced the groove between the 2 drummers.
Their Keyboard player Guy Allison had a beautiful Piano sound and a 1st. class Pianist. Along with their Reed player Mr. Marc Russo who wailed on the Alto and Tenor Saxophones.
Last but not least Mr. Pat Simmons , beautiful and frightening Electric guitar solos and Vocals. What a fabulous group of music makers. Love, Barry (lil goose) Harvey (Drummer with Chain).
