This is the complete list of RPGs I have beaten in my life (I keep a running list to help recall). I remembered posting something like this 3 years ago and the total number was 30. Today, it sits at 53. That works out to be 23 RPGs beaten in a period of 3 years, or about 8 per year. It isn't too bad, I think.

Shining Force 2
Warsong

Sega Saturn (3)
Albert Odyssey
Dragon Force
Shining Force 3 (1 out of 3)

Psone (11)
Chrono Cross

Persona 3: Fes (The Journey)
Shadow Hearts
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
Shadow Hearts: From the New World
Shining Force NEO
Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga
Star Ocean: Till the End of Time
Suikoden 2
Wild Arms 4

GBA (3)
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Golden Sun
Shining Force: Resurrection of the Dark Dragon

PC (1)
Diablo II

DS (2)
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV

PSP (6)
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions

X360 (9)

Lost Odyssey
Puzzle Quest: Challenge of Warlords
Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Tales of Vesperia
The Last Remnant

RPG Series Completed (2)

  • Shadow Hearts (3 games)
  • Star Ocean (4 games)

It's funny that I only managed to beat 2 on the DS platform, it being my preferred handheld device. Notable misses on my lists are Chrono Trigger, FF VIII, Vagrant Story and Xenogears. With the exception of CT, which I can get on my DS, it would be quite impossible to play those games since I no longer own a psone. Other games which I will definitely play are Persona 4 (now playing), Devil Summoner, Digital Devil Saga 2 (if i can get a working copy), and Golden Sun 2.

So in your opinion, what other games are missing from the list?

Impressive, and that's a neat idea. For me to do that I'd really have to go back and look over a list of old titltes since I think my first video RPG was Ultima for the NES back in 1989, and I know I played a lot of old games for the NES, SNES and PC back in the 90's. The main thing is for you and I (and millions of others) to not think of how much of our life has been spent playing RPGs

8 per year is pretty impressive! My attention span is pretty short so.. I can't sit still and play for too long, lol. I happen to notice that you managed to complete the Shadow Hearts series. Are they very short or time-consuming games? I am planning to try this series but have no idea whatsoever what kind of games they are. Which in the three is the most fun to play?

Hm... Vagrant Story is a must to complete. Fantastic game! Oh, and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment (PS1) is good too.

That's an interesting idea, Jude. Also, impressive progress over a 3 year span. Anymore, I'm lucky if I finish up 5 or 6 a year.

Nice, but I think I can keep up with you, I'm too lazy to sort out games by genre. Anyways, I'm going to reupdate my list of ALL games completed now.

That's quite impressive, lots of great RPGs in there too.

You can always get some more PS1 RPGs when you buy a PS3. I have a feeling that FFVIII will end up on the PSN soon, so you could get that one for your PSP.

Dragon Quest IV and V for the DS. Also The World Ends WIth You.

Yeah thos some bad @$$ RPG

Might impressive list. Nice to see someone else whos played Legend of Legaia. Liked the combo system in that one. Regarding Chrono Trigger, the DS version is a great option. The extras aren't mindblowing, but the original experience has been preserved well.

That's alot of great games. I'll recommend some but the ones ive completed are an acquired taste. [Atelier iris, ar tonelico, shin megami tensei nocturne, growlanser heritage of war, odin sphere, grim grimoire, shining tears].

That's quite the list. Very impressive indeed. I wish I could even come close

Only series I've ever completed was Final Fantasy >_>

I came home from work and looked at the list of my friends' blogs and couldn't figure out what was going on. It was you! You started it all! I even ended up doing it. xD

That's a pretty good list. You've completed a lot of games I haven't even touched yet. Where's Suikoden V? =O

Very good list. I love all of your games and own nearly all of them or I've played them. You've accomplished many hours of sitting on your butt, as I have too.

hismarlasinger: I would say all 3 of the Shadow Hearts games are worth playing, each complete-able within 30 hours or so. If there's only one you can play, I suggest going with Covenant. I hope Persona 2 gets a remake. I have heard many great things about it.

PAJ89- Yeah Legaia was a pretty good game that didn't get much attention. I am definitely getting CT, and for the first time ever, I am glad they are doing minimal changes to a remake.

xriceballx- I must say overtly cutesy games aren't my cup of tea. I usually wouldn't consider games like Atelier, but I would be keen to pick one up on the cheap to witness all the sexual innuendos found in it! I've played Norturne, Odin Sphere, and Shining Tears too, but they aren't my type of games either.

KenshinGirl: We will have some topics to talk about during the camping trips.

That's probably double the amount of RPGs I've even played.
Posted Jul 18, 2009 7:54 am PT
I've noticed that Unlimited Saga isn't listed...did you forget?
Posted Jul 18, 2009 8:51 am PT
thats a kik-@$$ list of rpgs!!! wherest the love for Kingdom Hearts?
Posted Jul 18, 2009 9:49 am PT
You've not completed FFVIII and Vagrant Story??!!
I shall not talk with you!
Just kidding. But you need to complete that one and VS someday. Both of them are amazing games.

Very impressive list. I could list all of those as played, but very very few as completed
Posted Jul 19, 2009 12:47 am PT
That's some good progress! I don't think I even have 53 RPGs in my collection
Posted Jul 19, 2009 6:04 pm PT
Jude, you do know that your PS2 can play PS1 games right? So it's not impossible at all to play FFVIII, Xenogears, or Vagrant Story.

Some good RPGs on that list...also some bad ones. But I'm not gonna bother getting into that. XD

What a list! Alot of damn games. TBH Im not even sure how long my list is.
Posted Jul 21, 2009 12:21 pm PT
I was just thinking, do you still actually physically possess all of those?
Posted Jul 21, 2009 3:37 pm PT
SemiMaster- No Casey. I no longer own any genesis, saturn, psone, and PS2 games (exception being P3 and 4). Why ask?
Posted Jul 22, 2009 6:11 am PT
Hey this is a great idea. I think there is one RPG and you need to finish for your list: Super Mario RPG (SNES). I still need to play Chrono Trigger too. Hey, what is your favorite out of this entire list?
Posted Jul 26, 2009 8:28 am PT
A quite impressive list, wow ! And finishing 8 RPGs a year is as impressive as the list itself. Mine would be much shorter, most of the games you mention are still on my "to play " list.
Posted Jul 28, 2009 6:17 am PT
That's a list if I've ever seen one. Impressive.
Posted Jul 28, 2009 11:15 pm PT
I personnaly really liked Fallout 3 and Oblivion and think these are can't miss games. Great idea to make a list, I'm working on mine right now :-)
