So I'm an owner of pretty much all the consoles on the market except the PS3... So I'm working hard lately to gather enough money for the 80GB version that should come out pretty soon I guess but I have a question for you guys...
Will the 80GB version have retrocompability with PS2 titles? It's only 399$ and I live in the Netherlands which would make it like 250 euros....
1. Is it a good choice to buy it now?
2. Retrocompability?

Thanks

The newest PS3 does not play PS2 games at all.

I think the PS3 is years away from a worthwhile purchase but if it has stuff you want on it then yeah, whatever floats your boat.

i think its a great console so you should give it a pruchase. Sony said the reason there releasing it is cause HDD are cheaper so now they can get 80GB for the same price as 40GB

None of the new 80GB PS3 come with backward compatibility(BC). The Emotion Engine responsible for the BC to PS2 in the first few batches of the PS3s have been excluded in order to save costs. They r trying to use software compatibility instead. So not all PS2 titles will work
