Just messing around in Photoshop. Does it deserve it's own blog post? Maybe.
Currently looks a little plain, and the only video I've got up at the moment is the Psychic Duck short, but hopefully that will be changing in the near future ![]()
Now that the semester is over and done with, I thought the time was right to show you guys what I've been feverishly working on. But first, a little back story. Every senior in the graphic design program at UNK, near the end of their college career, needed to create and display a "Senior Show", which is sort of a end-all-be-all final project. Five or six seniors are grouped together and each must come up with a theme for their respective show. One semester is spent discussing and developing our ideas, perfecting our portfolios, creating contracts. and generally preparing ourselves for the upcoming task. One of the professors acts as an adviser to the student, giving... well... advice when needed. The next semester is spent on the creation of the show.
The other student projects included a fictional microbrewery, a flower company, a dance school, and a CD/DVD set for The Doors. My project, on the other hand, was a little more conceptual. My show dealt with the concept of (for the lack of a better term) the "Internet phenomenon", or how certain videos and shorts become popular, and how to take the product to the next step. For my show, I an animated short (which I'll discuss a little later) and created several merchandising items to promote the short. These items included a full size movie poster, a making of art book, shirts, mugs, concept art, a website, DVD packaging, and a figurine.

And leads me to the animated short."Don't Feed The Psychic Duck" is, at it's heart, an experimental film. A throwback to the bizarre head trip cartoons to my youth (Pink Elephants on Parade comes to mind), the short focuses more the visual, visceral experience rather than plot or character development. My overall goal was to create something extremely bizarre, perhaps even Dada-like, so for your own mental health, don't try to make sense of it. It was mostly created in Photoshop, and edited in both Flash and After Effects, as well as an unhealthy amount of caffeine and sleep deprivation.
So, without further ado, behold the fruits of my labor. Enjoy!
