I truly miss the king of all classic video game consoles; the Intellivision. It was an era when game play was more important than flashy graphics or marketing. I still own my original Intellivision system (along with a few others I picked up on eBay and at thrift stores).

My original console still works perfectly after 25 years. None of the modern systems (with the exception of the original NES)could ever last that long and still be playable. My kids who have access to XBOX, Game Cube, GBA, Playstation, NES & a firebreather PC still like to sit down with Dad once in a while and play Intellivision.

Don't get me wrong, I love the modern games and systems (especially the XBOX and PC platforms). I love the sophistication and depth of gameplay that the modern power systems have. I especially like how detailed the newer RPG's are. They are something that never would have been possible on a system like the Intellivision. (Although Advanced Dungeons and Dragons: Treasure Of Tarmin was a phenomenal game for it's time.)

I will be comparing and contrasting classic games with modern gaming. This will come from the unique perspective of someone who was playing pinball before the first PONG game was introduced. I love video games and have played them all.

Until next time.....
