"The problem with groups like the PMS clan is that they're only pushing women into a separate box. Maybe that box allows more freedom and isn't as judgmental and maybe it's more comfortable, but it's still trying to separate guys from girls and that's really the problem." Paige expresses. Sarah adds her sentiments, expressing that while the PMS girls and others like them are "nice people" the "'OH MY GOD! I'm a chick! I play games! Look how awesome I am!' attitude does not help to keep gamers of both genders on the same page."
I found this article today and I thought this particular quote was interesting.
Every time I stop by Xbox.com, I come across some girl who is apart of the GamerChiX.
I find the word "Chick" annoying as hell to begin with but what I really don't understand is why just because you're a girl and you're a gamer, do you have to join these groups? This Paige person turns my thoughts into actual words and reason.
Why do I get annoyed every time I see it? Because I don't care for girls who go around advertising their gender like it's some kinda bragging right or trophy.
Sure I am one to talk since my username has "Lady" in it but I never made that name with the intentions of showing off my gender. It's my nickname. I've had it for a long time. It's like saying "My Lady" as far as I'm concerned. The only advantage it has ever had is that on XBL, people know my higher voice is because I am female and not a "little boy who's balls haven't dropped yet" and in forums, people address me as "her" instead of just assuming I am male which is nice.
But the pink colors, hearts, lips, and of course overly girly names don't help any. It's just a giant advertisement of your gender so you can show off to the boys and get attention.
I wish there was a word for girls who do that like "Puck Bunnies"... oh wait, there already is. It's called: Girl Gamer.
So I've been following the Transformers Live Action Movie Blog for... oh I dunno, maybe 6 months now. Maybe longer. My love for Transformers never faded just because the movie wasn't fresh in everyone's mind anymore.
It's a shame that there is still no new news for Transformers Animated's next season but for now, I'm very content with the most recent teaser poster for Transformers Revenge of the Fallen.

Most everyone who is keeping up with the blog has been waiting forever for them to announce a teaser trailer for Revenge of the Fallen (rumors thought it would show in one of the movie previews before 2008 ended). I'm glad the time is soon and if everything is correct, we'll hopefully be seeing it during the Super Bowel next month.
I know we'll probably not get it because we're in Canada and when the Halo 3 teaser trailer "Starry Night" came out during Monday Night Football back in 2006, we watched but Canada decided to air its own commercials. I was in the US at the time but my boyfriend unfortunately missed it. Not that it matters since within the hour I am sure the blog will have a YouTube video posted for us all to see and enjoy. Then again, this will be the Super Bowl so maybe Canada wont air their own commercials (as you can probably guess, I don't normally watch football as I am not a sports fan so my knowledge of the Super Bowl is limited).
I'm sure excited as hell about it but for now.. I need to finish my Starscream drawing and get it up before then.
A very huge gamerscore doesn't show what games you actually like, it just shows you'll play anything from gold to garbage.
I mean really. Some people would play Barbie's Horse Adventure (if it were on the 360) just to get another 1000 to their score. That's sad.
I also can't possibly understand why some people share their gamertags. Your gamertag is like your screen name. Or user name on a website. Just like Gamespot.
Would you share your Gamespot user name with a friend? If so, what if that friend had different views on video games then you? What if your friend said Halo 3 sucked when you love Halo 3? Then you just look like some confused idiot in the forums who says one thing Tuesday and a completely different thing on Saturday.
Plus, your idiot friend could be a troll and get you banned. That's always good.
I know of two idiots who share their gamertag. One shares it with his entire family. So does he actually like Open Season and Harry Potter? Who knows. Maybe he just bought those games for his kids and they racked up a 1000 gamerscore on his card. Something he didn't earn.
My other friend shares his tag with his lame family members, also. His excuse is "It's too complicated to make a new gamertag just so they can play Hexic and Halo on my 360". Lazy retarded excuse.
So what I am trying to say is... have some pride in your names. Don't share them.
