Microsoft this year did not disappoint at its annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) Press Conference in Los Angeles. I personally was thinking what more could they possibly introduce to the console, but my fears and prayers were answered earlier today. First off, let me point out something. Xbox 360 is the fastest selling console in the current generation and still has the largest install base. Now remember all those differences that competitors used to hang over Microsoft's head? You mean the... HDMI port on the PlayStation 3 boasting 1080p which eventually found its way into 360, or how about the introduction of the Xbox Live Vision Camera only to be copied on by Sony, the avatars that Nintendo toted on its Wii system.... you know the little depicts of you that are now on their way to the Xbox 360, wireless accessories and hardware (as with all platforms), 65nm processors that have slowly crept into newer SKUs... the list goes on and on. Simply put, what does a competing console have that the Xbox 360 doesn't and what do competing consoles not have that the Xbox 360 does? Everything is accounted for alive and well in Microsoft's platform. It only gets better from there. Microsoft is conquering every possible type of gaming out there. First we had the Xbox with its DVD-based games, Games For Windows, the eventual Xbox 360 disc games, Xbox 360 arcade games, Xbox Originals to download Xbox games, and now Primetime which introduces an entirely new type of gaming -- game show simulation / real life strategy. The new game type will allow players to win physical, real prizes that are still undisclosed. Now aside from all of that, the Xbox 360 does have things never-before-seen. First off, have you ever seen a console be completely reinvented through software? No. And where else will you find Fable 2 and other Microsoft household names? Nowhere. Simply put, this E3 Press Conference proved that Xbox 360 still has plenty of moves up its sleeves for this next year of gaming goodness, and shows no signs of slowing down on its quest to ultimately become the best console not only in this generation, but ever.
