I've finally realized that gaming is all about experience and joy, not trophy and acheivement especially those with time consuming. So I'll play the game with full experience. I won't be playing PS3 games for trophy for a while (MW2 is an exception, see ya on MP) since I only has that damn SDTV with me. I just canceled my pre-order of Dragon Age: Origins (to add more money to buy a new HDTV) but I'll still get MW2 on PS3.

Well, I already stated that I'll play games with full experience, since PS2 games are made for SDTV (they also support 16:9 wide screen, but 4:3 is better) so I'll be playing any of them, same goes for my PSP games.

For PC games, I won't bother playing Fallout 3 (currently playing on 800x600 everything on LOW) and The Witcher (same) anymore since I can't play it even on standard setting. I was surprised that I can't even run Far Cry (the first one from 2005 not the second one from 200 on MAX setting (never mind, there's too much bugs that it's unplayable anyway). I'll wait until I get a new gaming PC and play Fallout 3 on 1920x1280 and the same goes for The Witcher. I can still run COD4 on 1152x768 but it's not full experience imo.

I have too many games I haven't beaten yet, so I'll be playing them for now. I don't care about complete all of them since it'll take a lot of time to do that and it's not worth it for some games.

I'm a game collector but to just collect them without beating tham once is just a waste of money indeed, I'll play them now (a lot to beat).

BTW, if only my PC is better than it is, I'll buy Dragon Age: Origins for PC instead.

BTW2, I missed the chance to buy Oblivion PC version for 79SEK ($8US) because I was reluctant about which I should get. Well, I'll get it for my PS3 once I get HDTV. But PS3 version has no mods unlike PC version. Bethesda games have ugly women so i want mods to fix.

Sounds like a plan. I'm with you on your realization. I think that's part of the reason I'm still so content with my PS2. That's also one thing I don't miss about PC gaming: worrying about system specs. At least with a console, you know that if you buy a game that has your console's name on the cover it will work.

yeah, i don't get the whole trophy thing... it's nice and all, but play is surely the 'reward' in itself. i do welcome trophies though if they encourage experimentation.

id like to welcome you back from the dark side of gaming
trophies and achievements are evil
and good luck with that HD tv and dont forget the HDMi cable

Posted Nov 4, 2009 11:37 am PT
I would play for fun and then play to achieve those trophies

It's good you want to play for fun and not for trophies. Some people decide whether to play a game or not based on whether it has trophies and I think it's sad that they won't play some great games, just because they don't have trophies.Valkyria Chronicles is my favorite PS3 game even though it doesn't have trophies.

I was thinking about buying Fallout 3 yesterday, but every store I went to wanted over 100 AUD for it,so I'm going to check it's prices online.

Nice plan X)aww you missed out on Oblivion its an awesome game for PC

Yeah that is what gaming is about because I hate the Achievements (360) and Trophys (PS3) system thing it is plainly useless to me.
Posted Nov 4, 2009 6:07 pm PT
lol I ve like never played for achievements on the 360, so ive only got 13k but am still happy with that
Posted Nov 4, 2009 6:36 pm PT
I also got like 4 games to beat yet (maybe when I start with summer vacations I will play them more)
Posted Nov 4, 2009 6:42 pm PT
I almost fell into that trap of just playing a game for achievements as well

I believe games shouls be enjoyed for the ir entertainment value. If they fail to entertain they fail as a game. However, if you are good enough in the game to acquire trophies along the way then that's great. But it should'nt be the motivating factor.Fun, entertainment, and the ability to kick back and relax with a good game are more important.

Yes rise above those pathetic trophy whores and play games for the reasons they are made. For fun! *hides 5 platinum trophies(woot Uncharted 2 platinum soon )*

lol, that's what I absolutely hate about this generation of consoles. It seems like everyone forgot the true meaning of gaming - the fun.

Curse you, trophies!!!

Good luck on the HDTV

Oh ya! I preordered MW2 myself, so I guess I'll see you online.
This month has been tough. I had money for just one game, so I sacrificed Dragon Age (great RPG) and Assassins Creed 2.

Good for you! If you can curb trophy addiction, then so can I!
Posted Nov 5, 2009 6:42 am PT
I know exactly how you feel when you say you have too many games and its hard to find time to beat them all. Usually i try to 100% my games, but recently ive just tried my best to get through them and experience them before i get caught up in the next big game. Anyway good luck with the HD tv, you might be able to find some very cheap during those black friday sales but it might not be worth the trouble of dealing with the crowds.
