It has been exactly one week since the police came to my home to inform me Prick was arraigned and in jail. Seems like an odd thing to experience freedom because someone else is detained. I have to admit something. I am out of practice with blopping and blogging here. I feel like the kid who is back at her first day of school. The place is the same, there are mostly the same faces but some new ones are added and I'm not sure if I like my schedule or locker location. I haven't gotten my groove back. Also I am back to riding about five days a week. Being back in the saddle takes up a lot of my free time. The trade off has been well worth it and Veritas and I are both getting back in shape.

I spent most of my past weekend sick with a wicked migraine. I suppose the stress finally caught up. That, and the fact that they had a community day celebration in my town on Saturday. I celebrated with my neighbors by eating way too many Dippin' Dots and funnel cake. What is it about those Dippin' Dots? I am not kidding. I LOVE them. Little, freeze-dried, bits of ice cream heaven. I am the 40-something kid who can't stop watching them shoot out of the machine, squeaking in delight at how fun they are. Then I eat them too fast and always get a brain-freeze. You would think by now I would know better...

Conclusion: Kimba needs a life.

Anyhoo, while I was laid up with the latest, post sugar crash, pain in the brain, I discovered another love. The TV show Clean House. I am not sure what it is about this show that keeps me watching. My father is a pack rat and has one of those homes that I would love to sick Niecy Nash on. The fact that they go in and save people from their mayhem and foolishness (Niecy's words) and do it with humor, keeps me quite entertained. After watching several episodes I always end up going through my house and start throwing things out or packing them off to Goodwill. I live in a tiny house so I know how easy it is to retain clutter. The only thing I am guilty of is collecting anything Kliban Cat related.

I display them in a special case in my dining room. I finally did stop adding any new pieces, but once in a blue moon, I find myself scoping eBay and wanting Kliban candlesticks or soap dishes to complete my collection.

A few examples of Kimba's mayhem and foolishness

So,this is also a time I can explain to readers of my blogs as to why I always post the picture of a Kliban Cat at the end of my blog. I am a huge Kliban fan and his Cat drawings never cease to make me giggle. Well, that and the fact that I really am always trying to find inner peace. The fact that it is a Kliban Cat declaring it, makes it all the better.

I guess the blog question of the day is: are you a pack-rat? Do you need Miss Niecy to come and rescue you from your clutter? Or do you just need some Kliban humor?

Peace All

Welcome back! I need to clean house...but I'm waiting for my housemates to go away for three weeks...then I'm going to town to surprise them when they come back! (relatively... I can't really touch their stuff.)

Nice kitties! Dippin Dots rock. Our state fair is about to begin (tonight actually) I can't wait for some funnel cake, dippin dots and all the various sweet things that will make me rotund! (more rotund?)

Well...off to work...

I don't get brain-freeze, but my family joke about my milkshake cough - if I drink a freshly made shake, I cough ... always! But I still do it ...

I'm not a pack-rat ... but everyone else in my house is & they get most put out when I clear out their stuff ...

Our house would give Niecy an instant coronary. Two pack rats co-abiding (See two blogs from now in future) although everything is pushed against the walls so that our dogs and we can circulate. BUT... and this is important, none of this clutter will kill us. Everything tall is bolted to the walls, anything loose is light and breakable. Our nice neighbors across the street were fatal packrats: their possessions killed them in our giant 1994 Northridge earthquake. They were the pathological kind unfortunately: floor to ceiling trash in every square foot with tiny passageways between. It took 8 city dumpsters to remove the trash after their sad demise. A lesson, people!

Yes, I'm a pack rat. No, I don't want anyone to "help" me with it, but I have to get going on clearing some of it out soon. Oh well...

Nice to have you back, Kimba. I think collecting is a good thing, not a bad one.

Hi Kimba, I love your collection of Kliban cats! I never heard of Dippin' Dots, I don't think we have them here in Canada. I collect ... get this TV guides. What a surprise eh! Take care.

I am a teacher, a social studies teacher and that makes me a pack rat. We have the mindset that every magazine, book, video, article, statue, game, toy etc. etc. "could be used in a lesson someday." My house is full of books, as is my classroom, which brings me to one of my favorite tv/movie cliche scenes. Have you ever seen when the person: teacher, secretary, police detective (usually after another cliche scene of turning in his shield and his gun to go after the crooks on his own) is fired or quits work, and they clean out their desks and all of their stuff over years or even decades of work, and all of their possessions fit into ONE standard size box? One paper ream box for a lifetime of stuff. If I had to switch schools it would take me over a full car-load!

I made a decision to stop collecting things in the early 90s, books are what I never can cut down on.

I don't know, riding sounds better than TV.com more times than not.

You seem to be getting back in the groove just fine. I've never had Dippin' Dots. There's one in the mall, but we always pass right by. I haven't seen Clean House, but I've seen the one with the two English ladies and their team that clean people's houses. I used to like to watch Clean Sweep too. I can watch people cleaning houses all day. It keeps me from cleaning my own house. Love your collection!

Hey Kimba. I am so excited that I found someone that shared by total love for dippin dots. The person who come up with them is a freakin genius! MMMMM little bits of ice cream that just melt in your mouth...Oh I have to leave now to go find some.

Oh quick story though that shows my love for them. The first time I went to Panama City Beach most people would be so excited looking at all the beautiful water and big hotels...not me. I saw this pink building it may have looked a little rundown but it was the best thing on the beach...A dippin dot store. They had like a million flavors! I was in love!! LOL I have no life either! I am a total dork!

One thing bout collecting....it's always hard to explain to somebody else why you like a certain item even though everybody has something they squirrel away, big or small. Me, it's hockey/baseball cards though not so much in the last decade...

Big hugs from the Maritimer!

Whoa I've been gone too long haha, and I also need to get back into things. I think there's really no way for us oldies to feel completely in the groove anymore, but we have our being-here-forever status to level that out haha. And Prick is in jail?! Yay! Remember when they used to call Dippin' Dots "the ice cream of the future"? I hope they still don't do that haha.

I'm glad you are getting some semblance of normalcy back in your life.
I am a pack rat from a long line of pack rats. About once a year or so I do go through my house and pretty mercilessly throw stuff out. It brings the clutter back to a normal level. Have a great weekend.

You don't want to see a picture of my apartment. I'm not a pack rat but I tend not to get rid of junk mail fast enough.

I hope "P" will be in jail for a long time.

Here's an interesting set of pictures I thought you'd enjoy, seeing as you are the editor and biggest fan of Kimba the White Lion.

And here's another picture, showing that Kimba is not an only child.

Kimba, I'm in a 1 bdrm apt, and I collect Teapots and Dolphin Figurines. I finally had to buy enough shelving to create a faux-soffat to put all of my teapots and figurines on. Now I have more space to collect more junk. WOO HOOT!!!

Hey Kimba *waves*. I love your kitty collection! They are totally adorable! That new "man" in your life is just as adorable and I'm glad to hear you've got something to distract you from "he who shall not be named". I haven't been around myself lately at all as evidenced by the date of my last blog. I've been busy working out and dieting so I really haven't been on my computer much at all. However, I'm extremely close to my weight goal...it's teasing me to be so close. I am also now the mom of two teens (my son turned 13 a few days ago) and my daughter is about to turn "sweet" 16. Oh and I did several "mini-projects" this summer by going through closets and my kids rooms eliminating everything they've outgrown (toys and clothes). I'll be donating the good stuff to charity. *sending white light*

It's interesting that you mention brain freeze... I just recovered from a nice case of that caused by my frozen coke.

Don't worry, you will find your groove again. I wasn't around for a few months this year and it is hard to catch up again afterwards. *hugs*

Hi Kimba! I love your Kliban cats. I'm am such a pack rat. I try and get rid of stuff but just as soon as I do a week later I need what I get rid of. So, I have a storeroom that I keep stuff in. At least it's out of the house. That's a good thing right? Have a great weekend. Scott-

Ah, I am a reformed pack rat. It's an inner struggle. Back when I was in deep, everything had sentimental value. Then one day when I ran across a ticked stub from a school dance on which I had written the name of the boy I went with, I realized that if I needed notes to remind me of why I was keeping something... then the sentiment wasn't all that valuable!

Welcome back Kimba. So so glad to see you back. I read a few of your blogs at one of your other sites. As usual, you write really well. I did however seem to miss certain info...who is Veritas? Any chance of a photo of it? Nice looking collection, what's the one on hanging on the wall? Is it a wall lamp?

***dressed as a BIG, white, running rabbit only stopping once to check a timepiece*** I'm late! I'm late! For a very important date! --Kimba's blog! Helloooo, ster-rane-jah! I'm not the packrat, but I do live with two. Sometimes, I feel hopelessly imprisoned between the stacks. What I get out of it: an aversion to pancakes and all things towering. Glad to have you around again!
