Daylight savings finally hit. I love that it is already bright out at 7 am. The downside is that it is dark so much earlier.
I met up with gwactuary in Philadelphia yesterday. We attended a Flyers hockey game and then had dinner. I am happy to report this visit went much smoother than our original meeting for a Phillies game back in April. My car didn't conk out this time and we finally got to the restaurant we had originally planned to dine at last time. It was fabulous! I love the tiny little BYOBs that are scattered throughout the South Philly neighborhoods. I did notice that Broad and Market streets were spotless for a change. I don't get around the city as much anymore but the post Phillies parade clean up had left the city cleaner than usual.
While we were at the game there was still a lot of Phillies baseball frenzy...or should I say, Phrenzy? I am glad for my hometown that there was something positive to focus on. Recently our city was hit with a total of four police officers being killed in the line of duty. With the current election frenzy, watching the news is hardly cheerful. I'm glad we had a brief reprieve and the city was able to celebrate without any further violence.
I appreciated that gwactuary, who is a diehard baseball fan, chose a hockey game for our outing in Philly. It had been a couple years since I had been to a live game and I just loved it. I grew up in a hockey family so if you don't love the sport I think they ex-communicate or ban you from the fold~or something like that. ![]()
The Flyers dancing guy is always at the games but we were in for a treat this time. He danced with the Phillies Phanatic! While walking back to the car, I commented to gwactuary that I wondered how many uploads on YouTube there would be? I think he thought I was kidding. Here is the proof that only in Philly are we so proud of a giant, green mascot and an overweight drunk Flyers fan who loves to dance on the arena vision, that we will upload it for the entire world:
Overall, the outing was another step forward. I really feel like I am getting my life back to where it was before he-who-must-not-be-named. The ex hated hockey. He hated the city. He hated funny guys dancing with mascots. Now I can look back and say,"you know what? He hated me."
I am finally at peace with that.

I have had no clue as to what to blog about. I'm afraid I have not watched much TV. I also feel old friends here are slipping away. ![]()
I do plan to get together with gwactuary for a Flyers hockey game this Sunday. A reunion of sorts. ![]()
Anyhoo, when I have writers block I just dig in to the vault and pull ouyt an old blog. This is a re-run blog from Halloween 2006. I hope everyone has a happy and safe Halloween!
Are You Happy Now?
I lamented how this time last year I was unable to upload music to post in my blogs. You see,I am a technologically challenged dinosaur who had just gotten her first computer four years ago. When it arrived on my desktop I literally had no clue how to turn it on. Thanks to boredom in the relationship I was in at the time and sheer perseverance I figured out the basics.
But it was this time last year that I was still a newbie with HTML and links. Friends through the boards here taught me how to fine tune everything. It was also this time last year TV.com froze up. (shock,eh?) Back then you could post pictures with your blog comments. On Halloween we all posted with Smiley Central in our blogs and comments-and I think SC crashed the site for the day because of the Halloween overload!
How can it be Halloween already? These past couple of months have really been flying like these:

Get your mind out of the gutter! They are Boo Bees not boobies!
My past blogs where often more stories that usually centered around my ex and my new found singledom. I often wonder if I lost my blog mojo by being a little less bitter. I am trying to think back to remember any sad Halloween incidents that would make good reading but alas,I have no none. My childhood memories are more like this
Than this

"I got a rock!"
I was painfully shy as a kid so I do remember not wanting to trick or treat in neighborhoods where I didn't know who was answering the door. This kept my loot on the smaller scale compared to my more daring, older siblings. I also was the kind of kid who couldn't understand why I had to walk in the dark and cold night begging for candy when we had a huge bowl right here in our very own house. ![]()
I have fond memories of all the prep at school which included pumpkin carving and making decorations.
^^^^^^^One of the many Smiley Central site crashers!
My one sad memory was a boy that I knew through all twelve years of school and who was one of my best buds. He also happened to be a Jehovah's Witness. He would sit aside from the clas s during holiday festivities, not being allowed to partake by his religion.
I know many schools now observe a harvest holiday as opposed to the traditional Halloween I knew as a child which included dressing up in costume and eating way too much candy.
This boy and I walked to school together every day and I always saved candy for him after the holiday. The next several days he and his sister and I would eat candy corn, chocolate bars and other assorted Halloween junk on our way to school. It's a wonder any of us have teeth left from that generation!
In those twelve years of walking to school together, we never discussed his family's religious beliefs or how he felt sitting out of Halloween and Christmas activities at school. Now as an adult, I realize how cool children are when they don't know how to be prejudiced or judgemental.

So, I hope everyone has a fun holiday in whatever way you observe it. I for one, am handing out goodies to the kids in the neighborhood and plan to eat way too much myself. ![]()
The song of the day is one I was whining that I didn't know how to post this time last year. Please indulge me by clicking on the link to hear the song.
It is a Halloween song that also happens to be one of the funniest break up songs I have heard. You have to love a song that includes the line, "I was amazed to think that you could take the candy with you too."
I LMAO every time I hear it.
I warn you it is a catchy tune that will stick in your head all day!
Song of the Day:Are You Happy Now? Richard Shindell
Lyrics:
Are You Happy Now?You took the toaster when you went
You never paid your half the rent
You took the spices from the rack
But you don't have to put them back
Cause in your haste on Halloween
You left your camera on the bed
Where we played roles in black and white
You left a role of black and white
I set the timer and thought of you
And put the lense up to my head
I took a photograph for you
What comes out gray is really red
Are you happy now?
I smashed your pumpkin on the floor
The candle flickered at my feet
As goblins flew across the room
The children peered into the room
A cowboy shivered on the porch
As Cinderella checked her watch
A hobo waited in the street
An angel whispered, trick-or-treat
But what was I supposed to do
But to sit there in the dark?
I was amazed to think that you
Could take the candy with you too
Are you happy now?
I've sat all night and now it's dawn
And I cannot believe my eyes
There's garbage strewn across the lawn
Where we once stared up at the sky
And streams of paper fill the tree
That hovered over you and me
Shaving cream covers the car
That we picked up in Baltimore
Though I know it's hard to tell
I hope that what's-his-name treats you well
I still maintain that he's a bum
But it's your money - have some fun
And are you happy now?
You always asked why I had not
Written you a verse or two
Since that's the one thing I regret
Happy Halloween!

Peace All
LEAVES!!! Lots of them! We finally had a cold snap here in PA and the leaves started turning all sorts of pretty shades.
Since Newbie took the time and posted a blog just chock full of bug info I promised her pictures of LEAVES! E Nigma aka g@yusername just moved to LA. Sounds like a great thing, right? Except he is surrounded by fires and is used to the change of seasons where there are...LEAVES! So let us all celebrate these two and their hard work and have a romp in the LEAVES!

Pretty

Here's a bunch just begging to be raked in to a pile so we can all leap in!

It wouldn't be autumn without pumpkins

or cornfields that are turning golden
Peace!
