GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con
Monday, Aug 27, 2007

I've had enough of this place and its reviews. The Metroid Prime 3: Corruption review was undoubtedly the most confusing (and basically worst) review I have yet to read. Kevin compliments the brilliant controls on numerous occasions; he states how amazing the boss fights are and how great the atmospheric levels are. The thing that bothers me the most is that he complains about no multiplayer. Are you ****ing kidding me?! I cannot believe he even expected it to have some form of multiplayer, seeing how MP2's multiplayer sucked. I also think it's ridiculous how he said the pacing was off, while nearly every other review said the pacing is much better this time around. Anyways, I'm just here to let everyone know I'm heading over to the IGN and Gametrailers'forums. I'll still be here checking up on my union and in the other forums, but I'm sticking to IGN and Gametrailers for reviews from now on. Farewell!

KJAX90

PS. I'm not leaving Gamespot forever, and it's not just because of the Prime 3 review. It's about all of the terrible reviews lately.

I don't blame you. We all need to go the Ask GameSpot forums and give them a piece of our mind.

I'm down with that plan. Be there in a minute.
Posted Aug 27, 2007 6:42 pm PT
these are the reason why im at IGN now and i dont blame you for leaving

I'm there too! And is it just me or do you have a time limit as to how long you can post? If so, gayyyyy.

Yet another review for Gamespot to be ashamed of. They're losing a lot of respect with even veteran posters now, and if they don't clean up their act, we're all just going to leave.
Posted Aug 27, 2007 7:49 pm PT
I added you.

Hey. I didn't see your blog post until I finished my own "Goodbye GameSpot" post. Coincidence! I'm leaving too. Should read it.

"They're losing a lot of respect with even veteran posters now"

Me being one of them. I've gone through some 20-something levels so far on this site and I'm leaving it all behind because I believe in supporting the right people.

I agree kjax, but since theres nothing we can do about it, it's hopeless they will ever change.
Posted Aug 27, 2007 8:42 pm PT
@ CaptainDingo: I'll be sure to check it out!

@ JuanFraino: You're right, but still...I'm with Dingo in that I feel I should be supporting the right people.

He complained about no multiplayer? Seriously? ****.

I must have missed that part.

I wouldn't say it's solely because of the Prime review, but a culmination of everything up to now: The severely flawed new rating system, how they review Virtual Console games, how their reviews are always last of the big sites, how they are always late with news, terrible reviews like Prime 3, BioShock, Gears, Oblivion, Twilight Princess, THPS3, Fallout, Deus Ex, System Shock, ICO, Shadow of the Colossus etc. etc.

"wow, leaving gamespot because of their review of mp3."

This is not over one review, this is a culmination of things over the past several months that have shown that GameSpot is lazy and incapable of covering the Wii fairly.

Sorry, that's basically what Robbie just said, but I had to put it to my own words.

Anyways, anyone who says this is just based on a Prime 3 review doesn't know the full extent, and that this is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

@ WizardJeff

You actually think it's just because of the MP3 review?! Psh, that's not even the half of it. RobbieH1234 and CaptainDingo summed it up perfectly. The reviews at GameSpot have been embarrassingly terrible lately. The most recent (besides Prime 3) is obviously a 9.0 for Bioshock. I think Gamespot just loves to wait until all the other big name sites give out their rating for a game, just so they can give out the lowest score and most critical review. If you know ANYTHING about Metroid Prime, you know it's not based on multiplayer at all. It's about having a great single player campaign. Learn your **** before coming in here and complaining to me.

hey kjax90 i got an account over on ign too so ill come over more often maybe you get a surpise next week or this week
Posted Aug 28, 2007 8:22 am PT
hmm okay so your not leaving gamespot just because of this review, but because of all their other reviews too. i guess that makes alot more sense. lol i guess i didnt read the end part.

but um i wasnt complaining to you. and you should know that gamespot loves multiplayer, and will dock points off any game that doesnt have it.
Posted Aug 28, 2007 10:48 am PT
Sorry I was a bit harsh. But yeah, I just think they're a little too into it.
Posted Aug 28, 2007 2:17 pm PT
You come to gamespot to share opinions with other gamers. Not to question the legitamacy of a reviews score. Aslong as you come to our union then it's ok
Posted Aug 28, 2007 2:58 pm PT
I'm with ya, KJAX. I lost hope GS for a while now. It's not just the reviews not making any sense, but GS hasn't been a very good news site lately, at least for the Wii. Gamespot doesn't really have much on Wii when it comes to exclusivity. If it weren't for the forums and nice interface, I don't think I would be here.
Posted Aug 28, 2007 11:04 pm PT
I still think you should stay =) Just cause the forums here move faster. You still upset? Maybe bcoz Im a girl and reviews dont effect me, ive learnt a big lesson from Twilight Princess, i believed all the hype and it ended up really dissapointing, Hope i dont offend you on this one KJAX.

So yeah i dont read reviews.....you'll enjoy the games alot more if you judge the game yourself. Thats always the best experience.
Posted Aug 29, 2007 1:55 am PT
Oh, I'm still gonna be here guys. I was just really pissed when I wrote that. And you post didn't offend me one bit. But I agree with 16BitKevin; GS completely sucks for bringing in news for Wii.
Posted Aug 29, 2007 2:22 pm PT
I know what you mean>>>>>

Thats why I've always read both Gamespot AND IGN>>>>

I like them Both and they BOTH Piss me off a little sometimes AHahahHAaa

Just Par for the Course I guess....... lol

True, true. It is good to get different opinions on a game; it just seems I usually prefer IGN's opinions more. ;P
Posted Sep 4, 2007 2:34 pm PT
Worst thing is that everybody complained about single player in MPH so Nintendo fix it up with awesome Single player and no multiplayer and everyboddy still complains thats what I hate cant anbody be happy with just one
Posted Sep 9, 2007 7:41 am PT
Amen to that.
Posted Sep 9, 2007 8:29 am PT
Oh man, you have no idea how close I came to writing one of these goodbye blogs, myself. Like others have said, it wasn't just the MP3 review, it was a gradual pile-up of crappy content Gamespot has been shoveling out recently, and the MP3 "review" was what almost made me snap. But I've played through the game a couple of times now and I know how great it is, and no amount of self-contradicting reviews are going to change my mind about that.
Posted Sep 14, 2007 10:05 am PT
Amen. We think nearly the exact same.
Posted Sep 14, 2007 2:23 pm PT
I definitely agree about gamespot and news. I'll read my updates on games about stuff that was posted a week ago on IGN...
