I'm a few days late with this, but I only just learned that Michael Crichton passed away unexpectedly earlier this week. He was best known as the author of Jurassic Park, of course, but if I had ever been lucky enough to meet him it's Westworld that I'd have thanked him for. It's one of the few movies I remember seeing as a kid that I'm still crazy about today. Hopefully the upcoming remake will be a fitting tribute to its creator.

Westworld had the best "guy on fire" scene I've ever seen in a movie.

I loved his books. My favorite would have to be Sphere, the one he wrote right before Jurassic Park I believe. He was one hell of an author, and he will be missed.

Yul Brynner scared the holy hell out of me when I saw Westworld as a kid. What a great film.

And when the novel Jurassic Park came out, it totally fired up my imagination. Then I was flabbergasted by all the changes they made in adapting it to a movie. The story in the book is so much better.

Definitely a very creative writer who brought a lot of great original concepts into the realm of science fiction.

The news made me really sad because he was just SO creative and well written. His writing style made me even more interested in science.

Sounds like Westworld should be one my list to watch.

I've read a few of his books, and all were excellent. Timeline stands out, possibly because I read up on Quantum Physics for fun .

Yea... he was one of the few writers who got me hooked on stories other than fantasy and science-fiction. It sucks to see an adored character move on from this world, but at least I feel better when glancing at my book shelf seeing his name

Never even heard of Westworld, must give it a look. JP was a great flick though. I remember waiting in line with my dad at the rental shop one evening, running home with it and watching with all my family. Pity bout the third movie

I saw the Itchy and Scratchy land episode of the Simpsons, which is close enough to have seen Westworld.
