Seriously Nintendo? Is the DSi even a year old yet? Youhave the NERVE to improve it AGAIN? Why can't you just wait a few years between upgrades? I have bought just about every iteration of Game Boy since the original monochrome, but I drew the line at the DSi. For one, I really didn't need the cameras. The larger screens where nice, and I was thinking of breaking down and buying one just for the screens, and maybe the DS Ware, but now this? How in the hell am I to know that you won't make yet a THIRD DSi if I decide to buy this?

Apple is annoying enough constantly improving their iPod. Everytime people decide to buy one, they release a new model with more memory and more features. How in the hell are you supposed to invest in something when there's always something new just around the horizon? I don't particularly mind upgraded models when they're spaced out, but god, how are you supposed to make the decision to buy something when you know there's a new and improved version coming just around the corner?

Christ, Nintendo.. Do you have any idea how many people you just pissed off with this? STOP BULL****ING US AND GET YOUR **** TOGETHER!

I agree with you about Apple, but I'm going to get this minor improvement on launch day just for collecting purposes because I'm such a huge Nintendo fanboy >_>.

Bought a DSi in May, kinda makes me feel ripped off. Sigh, I hate it when a company can't keep a consistent model.

You know what else pisses me off? They spend all this money on R&D improving their DS, when they should be spending it on improving their damn Wii..

Man any bigger and the DSi won't be a handheld anymore. What ever happened to the Gameboy Advance Ds or DS pocket. I loved those little things and they fit perfectly in your pocket. SMALLER NINTENDO NOT BIGGER!!!!!! By the way I agree they are JUST like Apple.

I still own my original DS Phat.

Problem solved.

I absolutely hate when companies do this. Right after I bought my iPod Nano, Apple decided to release a new one with a camera. Right after I bought my Macbook, they released a new one with improved specs for $100 cheaper.

Make all the of damn improvements, and then start selling it to us.

"STOP BULL****ING US AND GET YOUR **** TOGETHER!"

I swear I said the exact same thing... except it was about MS and RRoD. (Still gave in to buying a new 360 after my first one died)

Anyways, yeah. This is the Early Adopters Get ****ed Generation.

I'd never expected this kind of attitude from Nintendo, I guess it's all about the $ .

I've always referred to Nintendo as the "Apple of consoles" but I usually meant it in a good way (ie. innovative, trend-setting).

But I've been a PC gamer all my life, so I'm desensitized to the whole "buy something and it's obsolete tomorrow" thing

I wouldn't be bothered even if I had a DSi, it's just a bigger screen for more dosh but yeah I agree with the pointless, too close upgrades from Apple and Nintendo.

Ds phat FTW. It might actually make it until the next portable system.

I can't stand apple.

Problem: A company is churning out ****.
Solution 1.) Don't buy it.
Solution 2.) Realize the world is full of thieves and become one of them.
Solution 3.) DDOS critical databases through Turkish and Albanian botnets until you get lifetime free DS'. #2 and #3 are jokes. Get it? I can't wait to see the inevitable downswing of this hardware bonanza... the inevitable attempts to recapture lost magic, and the slide back to "remember Nintendo, and how they used to be good?". It's coming with Apple eventually as well... or people are just too stupid to be allowed to live.

They've been pretty consistent about that sort of thing for the past few years - and Sony's been keeping up with them, having released four (slightly) different PSP models in the same time.

But yeah, after the GBA, the first GBA:SP, the properly backlit GBA:SP, and the GBA Micro, this doesn't surprise me too much.

I still have my fat DS. It's hideous, the battery life is terrible, the stylus is the size of a toothpick, but it works.

I still have the original DS . Do not see myself buying another version because I see no point.
Posted Oct 27, 2009 10:22 am PT
I saw that. WTF?
Posted Oct 27, 2009 10:45 am PT
lol, i hate that to. thats funny

Yea I am getting sick of Nintendo with all the "improvements" to their stuff. I agree, the DSi now isn't even a year old and they are coming out with other one? I'm fed up.
Posted Oct 27, 2009 1:22 pm PT
Yeah, it's incredibly irritating to buy something you think is great...only to find that if you'd waited a few more months that you'd have the same thing but only better...and then the cycle continues. So irritating.

Every time I got something new from Nintendo, they released a new one a few months later. I got my original Gameboy, then they released the Gameboy Pocket. I got my Gameboy Color, they released the GBA. I got a GBA, then they released the GBA SP. I got a GBA SP, and they released the DS. I got a DS, and they released the Lite. At that point I gave up.
Posted Oct 27, 2009 4:37 pm PT
Yeah, I stayed away from the DSi and will not buy another handheld until it is a true upgrade.
Posted Oct 27, 2009 6:02 pm PT
I feel you on this, but so many companies do it and often that i can't get mad anymore. its a good thing we have the freedom to buy whatever we choose.
Posted Oct 27, 2009 6:11 pm PT
I still think the DS Lite is the best version so far.
Posted Oct 27, 2009 9:26 pm PT
More random consoles = more fanboys buying them, even if they are random handhelds with tiny, but unimportant improvements...
Posted Oct 27, 2009 9:47 pm PT
Good point. Although I don't mind apples frequent updates, I remember as a child getting the game boy pocket soon before the game boy color came out, and let me tell you, that was the grandaddy of hand held upgrades.
Posted Oct 28, 2009 12:37 am PT
Yeah, that P.O'd me, too.
Posted Oct 28, 2009 6:35 am PT
This is just a way for Nintendo to milk their most unwavering fans into buying yet another DS. This is pretty terrible if you ask me. And why larger screens? the pixel count is the same, the games are going to look more jagged on those new screens.
Posted Oct 28, 2009 7:42 am PT
Got a DS Lite last year with my paycheck... not buying any new ones... I don't care if it has the secret of life.
