I know what I'm buying at lunch today, Dragon Age: origins on the PC! I always rent my games, but this is not one of those games I can rent. I actually saved this GameStop gift card for a special game worthy of being purchased.

If I get some time I'll share my stories about my experience with the game versus the Baldur's Gate games I have adored.

UPDATE:
A couple of interesting things happened on my trip to GameStop today. The place is about a 1.5 mile walk away from work. I took the underground muni train to get there quicker. Once I arrived I noticed that every single pillar had Left 4 Dead 2 ads on them at the underground Muni train stop. I wondered if it was related to the GameStop being 2 blocks away or if Microsoft Xbox Live is really working the ads. The little ads on the walls had one every other or 2 in spots as well. That must be intimidating to non-gamers because it's no longer Halloween. lol

L4D2 @ Underground Muni Station

L4D2 ad invasion - Check the wall to the right too, ads stacked together!

The other thing was going to GameSTOP and not seeing the game anywhere. I called on my walk to the Muni station so I knew that they had some PC copies. I heard some guy in line ask for the game and the GameStop dude went through the list of telling the guy what they had. I ended up getting the last PC copy they had left in the store location. When I went to hand over my gift card they asked me for my identification card because it was a mature game. I thought they were joking, but they were serious. Two of the people at the check out asked me my birth date at the same time. I also had my GameSTOP card on me for them to look my birth date up in the system. They did apologize and explain that going forward everyone has to show an identification card to purchase mature games. :/ I guess it was a compliment if not a little one for them to think I wasn't of age to purchase the game.

'That's all I have to share for now. I am actually in a little time constraint tonight. A variety of time sinks shall occur. The installation of this game, the new V show airs tonight on ABC, homework assignment due, and I want to play this game with no interuptions. Sure wish I didnt also have a friend dropping by. I need to make some of these things go away.

Looking forward to Dragon Age. It's definitely in my top five choices this year.

I'm playing it first thing when I get home. I will probably spend too much time with the character creator to get into the actual game before bedtime though.

Have fun! I'll be enjoying it myself when I can pick it up...

I'll be getting it for my 360. It looks like a ton of fun!

The promise from BioWare that Dragon Age will be "the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate" is why it's one of the few games I've ever pre-ordered!

I'll probably be getting it, however I haven't played a Baldur's Gate game for ages - and atm I've got some pretty big rose tinted specs on.

My friend who is 30 got asked recently for ID to see a movie. I wish that happened to me, I find it a compliment

I got it in the mail today, I ordered it from the EA store because it was the only thing left that had the PC Special Edition. It's great having a new PC, paying less money for better versions of games.

Baldurs Gate 2 is my favorite game of all time, if this game comes close (it is doing a great job so far) I will be very happy.

I got the 360 version earlier today. with the exception of the graphics, I had fun playing the opening parts.
Posted Nov 3, 2009 7:48 pm PT
You probably should take it as a compliment that they thought you were so young. I've only bought one game from GameStop ever and it was BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger Special Edition! Everywhere else was sold out so I had no choice but to go the GS. It's kind of a lame store, actually, but BlazBlue sure is one of the best games I've played in a long while!

Those L4D2 ads are there because of EA's $25 million ad campaign.
Posted Nov 3, 2009 9:18 pm PT
I'll have to wait for Dragon Age a little bit....I'm getting Tekken 6 and Modern Warfare 2 for PS3 in aa couple of days.
Posted Nov 3, 2009 9:48 pm PT
I'm interested in Dragon Age Origins. I may end up purchasing it.

Also, keep in mind that there is a subway level in L4D.

I'm not the only one who keeps mistyping (and misspeaking) GameStop/GameSpot. ;-)

My copy of Dragon Age is in the mail somewhere. 50+ hours for the main story. More if you are like me and do every side quest. Plus the replayability with all the origins and different things that can happen based on your choices! I need to clone myself. Twice! Then I might have a chance to play everything I want, including this, Borderlands, Brutal Legend, Batman, Modern Warfare 2, etc. etc.

When are publishers going to realize there are 10 other months of the year besides November and December!?
Posted Nov 4, 2009 9:35 am PT
LOL! I'm dyslexic and have made that mistake a lot! Got mine yesterday. With the origins aspect I'm already starting and restarting and may end up playing six separate characters! As a fulltime worker & family guy, I'll probably be playing this until May. I was also amused last night when my wife was watching tv, saw a commercial, and cried out "Hey, is that your game, Joe?" I humbly told her that thanks to GS (both!) that I had been anticipating this one for months.

I won't be playing it for a while but I'm cautiously optimistic about Dragon Age. I've been rather disappointed by most of BioWare's games since Baldur's Gate II, so I'm hoping that Dragon Age is truly what BioWare says it is.

"I thought they were joking, but they were serious. Two of the people at the check out asked me my birth date at the same time."
2 at the same time? Seems you have quite a few admirers then.

@PixelHunter: Haha, Shh, I fixed it and added STOP to notice it better.
@Spotty_Bug: It was a lady checking me out and a manager next to her checking out someone else. I am sure he was making sure she wasn't being rude. Once he apologized, she started to apologize too.
Posted Nov 4, 2009 12:49 pm PT
I'll get it eventually.... eventually is a long time for me...
Posted Nov 4, 2009 6:21 pm PT
yeah!! i got it today (for the 360)! I really hope it has the baldur's gate vibe, but so far it feels more to neverwinter nights to me
