Hey Guys,

First off I would like to appologize for the long leave of absence from this site. Between WoW and school I've been, well shall we say preoccupied?   Anyway I'm back tentatively for now and just want to update you guys on what's been going on in the gaming part of my life. Yesterday I went with my sister and stood in line for almost 3hrs in subzero tempurature outside Toys R Us to purchase a Wii. Yes yes I know, very foolish and crazy, and believe me I'm not the type to do these things, actually this is the very first time I stood in line like this for any of my systems. Normally I would wait 3-6 months until the hype is over and done with before getting a new system. However, my sister wanted to buy this so bad for her fiance who is into gaming as well that she asked me to come along with her. Of course I decided why not I might as well purchase the Wii while I'm waiting with her. So anyway to make a long story short we ended up getting the Wii (both of us) then I went over to Best Buy to buy The Twilight Princess for the Wii since Toys R Us sold out and what do I see? The PS3 60GB version. Let me tell you guys, I wasn't planning on buying 2 systems that day and certainly not the PS3 until later down the road (was shooting for late spring early summer), but the thrill of the moment got to me and I caved in so to speak. I purchased the PS3 along with Marvel Altimate Alliance and The Twilight Princess.  I was also convinced to spend another 100 bucks for a 2 year warranty because the PS3 had Blue Ray chip malfunctioning issues (the sales person told me so far only 10 since release of PS3) and I figured if I'm going to spend 700 bucks I might as well chip in another 100 to cover my a$$. Anyway I got home and tried both systems and so far I'm not dissappointed.  Both systems have their advantages and disadvantages but overall I'm quite pleased with my purchase.  I will have to spend more time on console gaming now that I've pretty much finished indulging myself with WoW (I've reached lv 70 with the expansion), which was an amazing experience that I will share with you guys some other time.  So anyways hope each and every one of you have been well and in good health. Catch you guys later I'm off to play some Final Fantasy XII.

So that's where you've been! Congrats on the multiple console purchases. I too recently both a PS3 and the only game I've played so far is Resistance: Fall of Man. It's a pretty good first person shooter with fun co-op and online gameplay. That's cool you finished all that stuff on WoW and While you were busy with that, I finished FFXII and clocked at 103 hours. Needless to say, it's an awesome game.

Hehehehehehehehe, if I were you I woulda done the same.

And you've really progressed in WoW..

WOW = evil.

Hey Jirair, good to see you back! Man, you went all out didn't you!! I may buy the Wii just to play Zelda...
Posted Feb 11, 2007 2:53 pm PT
I hate you.

Good to hear from you again That's awesome you were able to purchase both of those systems. Some day (year) I'll have them. Looking forward to seeing some new reviews!

Holy god, you have spent a heck load of money, but well spent money oh, and glad to see your back on gs

Thanks guys, good to be back again. Yes I did go all out Scott but hey you play once and you play to take in all the experience and MMORPG has to offer (which is quite alot) and you enjoy that experience. However, this will be my last MMORPG I simply do not have the time nor do I want to neglect other aspects of my health and life. So having said that I'm back to console gaming. WoW was fun and I'm glad I tried it out to see what it was all about but I had enough of it, it is endless and to a degree pointless if you continue playing it. Anyway thanks for the warm welcome back guys!

I'm really glad you posted again! I wouldn't be lying if I said I missed your blog. I am also very happy for you that you bought both systems. I have a Wii and a 360 myself, and I consider it the best of 2 worlds, I'm sure the PS3 is just another! I'm glad you can play a game like WoW and just say to youself "I've had enough of it." I quit WoW a while back, but I've been playing EQ2 and Vanguard, so the MMORPG machine still has me, although I usually only play weekends. (listen to me, I sound like a drug addict saying I only use on weekends! )

Hope you have a great week, Jir!

Hey Nick good to be back and talking with you guys. Thanks for the reception and positive feedback. Talk to you soon, and have a great week.

I'm just glad you're alive Jirair. I thought WoW had ate your soul.

Glad you're enjoying the PS3 and Wii. Hey, where's the 360 at?
Posted Feb 12, 2007 2:06 pm PT
Hey Ron, good to hear from you again. Yeah the 360 is somewhere in the horizon. I 'll have to pick up that system sometime soon. Especially when cool RPGs like Blue Dragon is slated for that system. Meantime I have alot of catching up to do with my current games.

Hey he's back! So WoW was the culprit huh? Not the first time I've seen this happen Well I guess I'll be hopefully looking forward to some of your infamous reviews again down the road...two new consoles....that's incredible. Let us know how it goes!
Posted Feb 13, 2007 6:42 am PT
Hey Rachael. Thanks for stopping by. Yes I'm back and I'll be posting some reviews as soon as I get the chance to finish the games and write the subsequent reviews. Good to hear from you again.

I'm glad you finished indulging yourself with WOW! That game sure does steal your life away. I am glad that you have decided that WOW, will be your last MMORPG. I am in the same frame of mind, because I look back and realize I could have done something constructive with my life and had something to show for it! LOL

Still playing FFXII, eh? Yeah, me too. Well, actually I have been very busy with my websites, so I haven't had much time to continue the adventure, yet. I hope to find some time soon, however.

Anyway, glad to see you are still around, Jir11! Let us know, what you think of your new gaming consoles.

Cheers!

Welcome back to GS Jirair, it has been a while! Likewise with Ron, I thought WoW had claimed you, but congrats on beating the addiction!

There is nothing better than an impulse buy and you seem to have taken the biscuit buying both the PS3 and Wii in one day Good stuff, now I'm jealous, I wouldn't mind a PS3. Let us know how it treats you.

Hey Andrew! Great to hear from you too bud. I will let you guys know what I think of both systems as I play the games. Good to see you.

Hamarabi I put FFXII on hold due to WoW, but yes I'm back playing it and will be consistant with it till I finish the game. I just finished fighting the monster in the mines (the part with Fran's sister) and now I'm about to enter through the barrier in the woods that I couldn't pass before. So I think I have a long way to go (so far I've clocked 23 hrs in the game). Anyway I'll let you guys know how it goes. I still have to beat Okami!

i thought you went to that WoW addiction clinic in amsterdam. Its nice to hear from you Jirair. My Wii ate my soul for about two weeks after basketball stuff and now im happy doing other things. I played a PS3 at walmart and i didnt think it was that amazing, but i probably didnt see its full potential like you have. I'll talk to you later my friend

Geez....a Wii and a PS3...??? I have a Wii and only have Wii Sports and TL Princess for it. Its a pretty cool and innovative little system, but I won't rely on it for my RPG needs, the PS3 is my answer to that
I played WoW for a little while in the free trial version...I wasn't that impressed, people say that you need to get to higher levels to get "into" the experience more, but I just wasn't interested. I'll stick to Guild Wars
Congrats on your purchases....lucky....

Jirair, you spent a lot of money with that one. But hey, you only live once right. Congrats and I hope you're having fun.

How's your FFXII game coming, Jir11? I was just curious about your progress. It's funny, that I have almost that many hours clocked on my current game and have yet, to turn in the Rogue Tomato quest! I started over a few times and was busy experimenting with leveling techniques. hehe

What about your new gaming consoles?

Anyway, good luck on Okami!

Cheers!

Hamarabi, I've been playing FFXII on a consistant basis. Currently I'm at 41 hrs played, my characters (Van, Ashe, and Bache) are at lvs 42,41,41 respectively. I'm currently in Sochen Cave Palace, and trying to figure out the puzzle with the Sun/Heart/Heaven/Earth. Like you I have not concentrated on the mob sidequests and I'm just focusing on the main storyline. I don't know how far I'm into the game I would imagine that I'm halfway through or just past the halfway mark. I've only got 2 Summons (Meatus and Belias). As for my consoles I'm playing the Wii quite frequently with my brother in law. We are enjoying mostly bowling and tennis. I haven't been able to play with the PS3 as I'm currently playing FFXII. I wanted to play that on the PS3 but I had already started the game awhile back and my data is saved on the memory card for the PS2 so I didn't want to start over and play the game on the PS3. So as soon as I'm done with FFXII I will start playing the games on the PS3 and also start Twilight Princess for the Wii (right after I finish Okami of course). Anyway that's the update from my end, let me know how far I'm progressing with FFXII in relation to the story. Thanks for checking up with me and take care.

Hey there, Jir11! Great to hear from you!

It sounds like you are coming along, quite nicely. I would have to say that you are more than half way through, but the difficulty does increase significantly, as you go. So, the answer is sort of subjective. After you beat the baddies in the Sochen Cave Palace (Ahriman Boss), you go on to Draklor Laboratory to find Dr. Cid's lab for another tough battle, but the boss is only level 40, so you should be in good shape by then. It would be a good challenge at your current level, even.

I think the Wii would be a great deal of fun, for any kind of sport game and you can get in shape, while playing! Great idea, they had.

It will probably be another year, before I buy a PS3. I have been so busy with my website, that gaming has just taken a back burner, lately. When FF13 comes out, I'll be sure to pick one up! That game looks top notch, but I expected that coming from Squre-Enix.

Cheers, bud!

P.S. I tried to send this message to you via PM, but Gamespot is glitching pretty bad today. If the PM get's through, I included a small spoiler at the very bottom of the message. Wayyyy down, so you don't have to read it if you don't want to. hehe

Welcome back, Jirair. As you could probably tell, I haven't been around that much lately either, but I just graduated from college and I'm officially a free man! Time to catch up on some GameSpotting.
