I like buying TV shows on DVD, but I keep thinking about various issues. First, I think about how sad it is that shows that I watched in high school (ex. "Buffy") may not have the same affect on me as I am getting older. Seems irrelevant, but I think about random things like this sometimes (and obviously I think about them on a deeper level than I really should, heh). I think about if people will still be watching their DVDs (from the past few years) like 10-20 years from now.

Secondly, I always wonder if I am actually going to watch the DVDs of shows I love. I think the most useless DVD I have bought is "Nip/Tuck" season 2. While I like the show (although I like it less now compared to how I felt about it when it started out), I never watched the DVD at all.

I recently discovered that I probably shouldn't buy many dramas or things that don't have much humour in them, because then I wouldn't watch them as much as I would have to in order to justify the purchase. For example, I really like "Lost", "Heroes", and I love "Dexter" even more, but because I know how all the mysteries end up so far (since I keep up with every episode as it airs), I would have no interest in watching them right away. I may watch them years from now, but by then everything could be out in HD DVD, or whatever. It makes sense that I would feel this way since I do the same thing with music. I get bored with it quite quickly if I listen to something over and over again - so much so that I will purposely NOT listen to a song too much. Just in case I get bored of it soon after acquiring it, and skip over it in my playlist. Of course, I keep nearly all these music and video files stored somewhere, because I usually feel like going back to them after months or years. I don't want to remember how it felt to listen to or watch a specific TV show, movie, music, etc. I want to have the experience of discovering / getting into something all over again. This doesn't usually happen to me unless I wait a long time before re-visiting that piece of entertainment.

Examples of TV shows I recently bought that I could definitely watch in the near future (without remembering everything that occurs and therefore getting bored during the viewing): "Curb Your Enthusiasm", "The L Word", "Arrested Development", and "Flight of the Conchords". I plan on getting "Veronica Mars" and "Journeyman" (if that ever comes out) soon. Some of "The Office" DVDs may be interesting, but I should probably watch the British version too and see which one I like better. I like the US version but I'm not sure it's worth buying on DVD right now. Unless I want to get friends into it - then it's usually worth it

"Battlestar Galactica" is worth it too, but it's very heavy (ex. depressing), and requires a certain mood (in my opinion). And I don't want to get ripped off and pay double the amount for seasons 2.0 and 2.5. I will wait for the box set that combined all of season 2 into one package. Season 3 is coming out in a few months too. "Rome" is another great series, but too expensive right now.

Yeah...I've just been in the TV-show-on-DVD mood lately.

It's been a while since your last blog post. I'd say that I only watch about 20-40% of the DVDs I buy. Maybe even less with TV show DVDs. I'm cutting back on TV DVDs -- only shows that I'm editing on this site, and maybe others on occasion, especially if I haven't seen the show before. I don't watch many shows regularly so that last category is pretty large.

I bought Season One of Rome on sale at Amazon.com. It was a one-day sale. The set was only ~$32 (usually close to $50 or $60 I think). It helps to sign up for Amazon.com email notices because they tell you about the one-day or two-day sales. I haven't watched any of the Rome episodes yet, however.

I bought the DVD set for Invasion back in 2006. I haven't watched a single episode yet. I generally don't like watching the same episodes over and over, for any show. I'm also finding that it's much easier to watch recorded shows off the DVR than to watch a DVD. The DVR recordings are also more recent than the DVD shows. I record a few shows that I never watch live. Whenever I have a free moment, I usually watch one of those recordings instead of a DVD. However, I've had very little time to do either in the past few months. I generally watch about 0-2 episodes of scripted shows a week, along with a few minutes here and there of Discovery Channel documentaries and programs, and some sports.

123home123, yeah I haven't posted in a while. Busy with school and everything

That was an awesome price for the "Rome" set. In Canada it's around $90, which is a price I refuse to pay at the moment. There are whole series sets that are available for a price closer to $100, so getting just one season for that price is not worth it.

Thanks, HaveSumFaith. I was just bored and decided to make a blog post for once.
