Instead of having a fair, accurate rating system, we can now settle for a watered-down version. Is there much of a difference between a 7.8 and an 8.2???? Neh, they're both GREAT. Not REALLY GOOD or A LITTLE BETTER THAN GREAT, just GREAT. Also, there will no longer be a value system based on a game's Gameplay, Graphics, Sound, Value, or Tilt, we will be forced to read the whole entire review of EVERY SINGLE GAME we will think about buying. Take DiRT for example. Even though I'm not a fan of dirt-racing car games, I could easily see how the game was by pulling up the Review of the game to see that it had incredible graphics compared to all the other racing titles on Xbox 360. Graphics are pretty important to me, and I might rent the game to see what all the fuss is about. However, since there will no longer be a quick reference for vital ratings based on its gameplay, graphics, etc. I will be forced to read the whole review.

Gamespot, you can redeem yourself. Just make an update that would read "Due to overwhelming complaints about the new rating system, we will keep the working, convenient system intact."

At least IGN will have more accurate ratings if Gamespot follows through with this foolish decision.

Even though my dedication to the Hawk series has lasted nine years, I've got to admit Skate is just the game I've been hoping for. The first three games in the Hawk series were reasonably realistic, but then the series took a turn for arcade-like physics. In an interview, Hawk explained that his games are supposed to cater to gamers and skateboarders alike. I'm sorry to say, but nothing is fun about dressing up in an alien costume and collecting the letters of S-K-A-T-E within a time limit. Skate, on the other hand, focuses mainly on realism. The goals may not be 100% realistic, but it seems the gameplay is being formulated with simulation in mind. It's been a long, fun nine years, but I'm going to have to depart from the Tony Hawk series.

I've been a fan of the Tony Hawk series since the beginning. I think this game will make up for the boredom that has infected these games for the past couple years.

I'm excited the most about the physics in the game. My dream was to have a "realistic" Tony Hawk game. This seems to be getting closer to what I've been expecting for a while.
