Yup. My dear 360 is momentary dead.

Just after a little 5-hours-marathon of Gears of War 2 online and a couple of hours of Fallout 3 (has that game an end?), it happened.

"E-74 Please contact Microsoft consumer support"

For those of you that don't know, Error 74 is (another) hardware fault of the 360, somehow related to the video output, I've heard.

Well, that was one of the risks I knew I was taking when I bought it. Nonetheless I'm kinda disappointed.

Thanks to the warranty, everything will be free, but I still have to wait 2-3 weeks, short after I became Gold again...

*Sigh*

I'll be back to my Wii and DS. Too bad I'm broken and the last bunch of games I bought was for the 360, so I don't have anything new for any of both.

C' est la vie.

I'll play Super Paper Mario and Yoshi's Island again (my life's SO sad )

Greetings to all.

I.B.

That sucks....

I really hope MS learns something from this.

I dont know why but this make the rumor about MS changing RROD into E-74 even mor plausible, since you had quite a nice marathon it likely overheated....
Good thing you had some warranty left.
Commenting on killerfists comment: yeah, but consumers should also learn something: dont support crappy products.

@ -Reggeaton- true, but it's sometimes a case of "the pros outweigh the cons". Just look at Windows (also a MS product lol)

That sucks, sorry to hear that. I just found out that MS have extended their 3 year warranty to include the E74 error. So it must be getting pretty widespread.

It definitely sucks and I totally feel your pain because I just went through the exact same thing. One comment I'd like to make about Microsoft's Xbox.com website. Apparently when your box is repaired, you can no longer track the progress of it being shipped back to you nor get a the tracking number from the website. Instead you have to call them to get that information. You would think that a company that calls itself a leader in technology would have better....technology.

That's too bad. I'm pretty unimpressed with the 360's hardware reliability.

That's one of the many reasons I just ordered a PS3 instead of a 360.

That stinks. I've been so lucky with my 360, no rrod, no E-74 so far. *knocks on wood* I think I'm gonna get me a PS3 and give my old mum my 360 before it goes belly up.

Your 360 realized how bad of a game Fallout 3 is and it rejects to play it. Sorry to hear that bud.

Ouch, sorry to hear man.

Damn, thats sucks hard.
My 360 due for some kinda failure soon, its a launch 360 I bought from a friend.
On a side note, YOU GAVE YOSHIS ISLAND A 1.0!?
Edit, oops, read it wrong, its a 10.0.
Thouht you lost it dude.

I'm afraid to play my X Box 360. I have an Arcade 360 with the new cooling chip, but it still sounds like a vacuum when I play so I'm still a little nervous whilst playing.

@killerfist : Indeed, they better learn it.

@-Reggaeton- : the 360 may be unreliable, but by no means "crappy".

@Floppy_Jim : so looks like. Add another common hardware fault to the 360

@Lance_Kalzas : Thank you, and I hope MS do it better next gen.

@JebranRush : I'm actually impressed by the 360 reliability. Just not for a good reason.

@Ifnot : Yeah, the PS Triple doesn't have this issue.

@Bigboi500 : Lol, knocks on wood again, pal.

@Aljosa23 : Al, old friend, you know that Fallout 3 is awesome. And that it may be better than FFXIII ( j/k, j/k )

@carljohnson3456 : Lol Carl ol' pal, you really felt it

@-Oath : It was a 1.0 originally, I did it as a joke to ActicEdge lol

@majadamus : don't worry for the sound. It is normal. When it breaks, the 360 gives no warning. *sighs*

I swear all the console were released too early. All of them have major hardware problems excluding the wii (but Nintendo has been known for sturdy consoles). I guess this will be a lesson to the developers to take it slow for the next gen.
