I really enjoyed this movie. It encourages couples to reevaluate their marriage and make sure everything's on track. The action sequences, with the fire fighting, were very good, so men shouldn't think this is just a chick flick. The only problem I had was that we didn't see what kind of relationship the couple had before their problems. I'd like to see how far they have slipped.

Carl Reiner started out as an actor, but has become so much more. Not only has he acted on stage, screen and television, he is also a writer, director and producer. Hired as a performer for Your Show of Shows, a classic of early television, he soon began writing sketches for the show. Just having a part in that show would be enough to give him a place in television history, but Carl was just getting started. From there he created a show about his life as a comedy writer living with his family in the suberbs of New York City, and The Dick Van Dyke Show was born. He's also directed and/or produced several movies. His talent goes on and on. Perhaps his most impressive accomplishment is his marriage, which has lasted more than 50 years.

I heard about this movie from someone who happened upon it in the theater. But it was gone in a flash and I didn't get to see it until I rented the DVD. I'm glad I did. Yes, the acting is amateurish, but the overall story is heart-warming and inspiring. The DVD extras include an optional commentary by Alex and Stephen Kendrick, the writers. In it you learn of the great support the film received from their church. The great majority of the crew were volunteers from the church--just watch the credits for "catering provided by..."--the list goes on and on.

I liked this film a lot. The two leads are very good actors and work well together. Kristen Johnston is very funny. Some parts seem unbelievable, but it's a movie, after all. Though not destined to be a classic, it's still a fun date movie.

His Girl Friday is a remake of The Front Page, only this time the two main characters are male and female, which throws some romance into the mix. Cary Grant and Roslind Russell are at the top of their game in this film playing a divorced couple that once worked together as newspaper reporters. As the movie progresses we find that they are still a great team. The best part about the film is the quick, snappy dialogue. I remember reading somewhere that Hawks directed the actors to begin their lines just before the line before theirs ended. This made for, not only quick dialogue, but sometimes overlapping conversations that seemed very much like real life. These days I would compare the writing style to Aaron Sorkin's best work--quick and witty.

William Conrad's incredibly eventful career took him from radio to directing movies to starring in his own television shows. As talented a voice actor as we may ever know, he made a name for himself in the radio industry at a time when the radio dramas, once the entertainment of the masses, was on its way out. He played Marshal Matt Dillon to perfection, as long as the public could use their imaginations to see him as the tall and dashing town sheriff. In reality he was balding and overweight, though he didn't let that stop him from starring as Cannon, a detective who was a ladies man. Throughout his career he would continue to be drawn back into using his wonderful voice, narrating series such as Rocky and Bullwinkle and The Fugitive. His voice was perfect for this work, being smooth and not so flashy as to draw attention.

William Russ has the "everyman" part down to perfection. In countless guest appearances, TV movies and as Alan Matthews in Boy Meets World Rusty made acting look easy, as we became engrossed in his characters, forgetting for a time that he was an actor. He won critical praise for a recurring role on Wiseguy, and had a shot at stardom, playing the lead, a professional baseball player, in a feature film. However, the chance to become a matinee idol eluded him when his film, "Pastime," barely registered a blip on the pop culture screen in 1991. Soon after he was cast as Alan Matthews, a steady job in a sitcom made for the next generation. Still, William Russ has never become a household name. Is he disappointed? I don't know. I think he can be proud of the work he has done, and happy that he has been able to make a living at what he clearly loves to do.

William Daniels is a prime example of a professional character actor. He is excellent in everything he does. I have seen him in both comedy and drama. He deservedly won two Emmys for his portrayal of Dr. Mark Craig in St. Elsewhere. He made a somewhat unlikeable character likeable. Mark Craig was grumpy and hard to please when it came to the interns who studied under him, but he was always kind and understanding to the patients, and seeing him at home with his wife showed us another, softer side to him. As George Feeny in Boy Meets World, Daniels brought stability to a cast of young actors, holding it all together. Mr. Feeny was always the voice of reason, and almost everybody went to him with their problems. These two characters were totally different, but William Daniels brought life and substance to them both.

Omri Katz was the perfect actor to play Marshall Teller in Eerie, Indiana. His acting was always spot on and never too \"cute.\" I also saw him in Hocus Pocus, and he was just as good in that movie. As I write this he is 30 years old. We can only wonder what great things he might have done in the world of show business had he chosen to stick with it. As it is we can only wish him well wherever his life has taken him. Perhaps he\'s doing even greater things that may one day change the world.
