Pride and Glory of Wutai The story of Final Fantasy VII through the eyes of Yuffie Kisaragi the Materia hunter

Prologue
The distant land of Wutai , once a proud village until it lost its war against the Shinra Electric Power Company. It was indeed the only village that was not using Mako energy and Materia power. Now the whole world is conquered by Shinra and is now the most dominant economic, military and political power in the world of Gaia. A rebel group are formed given the name of Avalanche who conflict in a battle against Shinra and the Turks. Wutai is finally defeated after a long conflict with Shinra and Sephiroth and admitting defeat Godo Kisaragi, the leader of Wutai decides that the only way Wutai can survive is if it becomes a tourist town. The eleven year old daughter of Godo Kisaragi was disgusted by the cowardice of her father and runs away from Wutai in order to collect materia to rebuild the village of Wutai to it’s former glory. This ultimately started the battle between Avalanche and the Turks resulting in the awakening of the first weapon, Jade Weapon. Avalanche disband from this incident as it is the Turks who finally defeat it.

Chapter 1
A young girl in her early teens stood just outside of the village of Wutai staring out at the distance. She turns and looks at the village, turns and runs off. The girl has a grip on a small three spiked weapon known as a shuriken in her right hand and holds a miniature knife in the other which happens to be the same size in length and width as the spikes on the shuriken. She adds this piece to the rusty shuriken she wields. The girl is wearing a green T-shirt, and blue half cut jeans, black boots, black fingerless gloves and Black socks which come up to the rim of her boots. She has short black hair, dark brown eyes and a green headband on her forehead which the back of hides behind her hair. The young teen climbs aboard the ship she had used in order to get to Wutai. “Miss Kisaragi. What can I do for you?” The captain asks. She takes one last look at Wutai and says “I’ve changed my mind. I need more materia first. I can‘t make a difference unless I find some. But looking at this Shuriken I‘ll need some gil and a new weapon” .
“So anywhere in particular?” “umm….Cosmo Canyon, you can make that from here right?”
“Sure, I can make it to anywhere, that’ll be 30gil please, you pay first.” She hands over some gil. “Ok can we be quick I’m already starting to feel a little…..ugh” her face goes a pale green as they set sale. Yuffie walks over to the seating area and sits with her head facing the ground.
“Man I so hope this guy has something worth stealing.”. She stands up and takes a look in the captains cabin. She finds a little bit of gil and a sailors hat. “Not a thing worth swiping.”
“Young lady!” The captain calls as he walks into the cabin “you shouldn’t be in here I’ve checked everything and we are going in the right direction, now please take a seat while I steer you to Cosmo canyon.” Yuffie leaves the cabin and sits back in the position she was in earlier “ugh…..not even anything worth stealing….ugh”. The boat stops and Yuffie can finally get off this boat
“Thank you for using our service ma’am” the captain says “yeah yeah” she says as she walks up the canyon side. She fights a few creatures as she climbs. At least she gains some gil though. “I so hope this will buy me a new weapon.” She arrives at the canyon and is greeted by a villager dressed in a kind of leopard skin coat. “Welcome to Cosmo Canyon young lady. You’ll find the inn to your right and the potions store next to it and the weapon store and Elder Bugenhagens to the left.”
“Ok, thanks” she says. Yuffie climbs up the stairs on the left to the weapon store. “Hi, can I get that Shuriken?” she asks pointing at a shiny Shuriken made of steel. “Sure that’ll be 500 gil please.” the shopkeeper says
“seriously?” asks Yuffie
“Yeah” “I can’t afford that” “Well it looks like you can’t have it then don’t it.” he says returning the Shuriken to its former position. Yuffie walks out the store “Come again” “Trust me. I will” Yuffie mutters to herself with a huge grin on her face. Yuffie Walks to the right side of the canyon and ‘stays at the inn’ for the night at 50 gil a night. At midnight she decides she’s going to go and get that Shuriken at a very discounted price. She walks into the shop using her lock pick making sure nobody is watching of course. She climbs over the desk and finds the shuriken, and some of the materia behind there too and tries to walk out of the store. However, an alarm triggers “Stop thief” one of the villagers calls out. Yuffie flees using her speed up. She throws the old shuriken at the lion like creature chasing her it howls and stops as she runs through the gate and escapes from Cosmo Canyon. “I may need to change my outfit somehow. I’ve heard of a place in Midgar called Wall Market which sell all kind of women’s clothing. Maybe I’ll go there see what they have. I think you need permission to enter Midgar though or a key.” She opens up a map “Hmm there’s a locksmiths house not far from here according to the map maybe they’ll be able to sell me a key to Midgar….or let me steal one. That is my next destination then”. She sprinted toward Gongaga town then sprinted some more to this house. She opened the door and walked inside the house. “Hmm…nobody here? So fantastic.” She reads many labels and she finds one that says Key to sector 5. “This must be the one. That was too easy.” She picks up the key and hears a voice behind her “umm excuse me what do you think your doing?” . She turns slowly and finds herself looking into the eyes of a man with long jet black hair and scars on his face. His clothes look torn and blood is dripping from his left leg. “I asked you a question little missy” “I was just admiring the key. What exactly does it do?”
“Well it opens up the gate in sector 5. I know what you were planning, I work hard to get the mithril to create those keys and you think you can walk in here and just steal it, think again little missy.” Yuffie goes red in the face “I wasn’t gonna….steal it. I was gonna borrow it” “Without asking is stealing.”
“So…Can I borrow it?”
“No….tell you what you find me 10 pieces of mithril and I’ll let you take it.”
“Deal. Just one question.”
“What”
“Where do you find mithril here?”
“That’s for you to figure out. It’s not an easy task you know. You will create the key yourself else theres no way your getting into Midgar.”
“this had so better be worth the trouble.”
“hmm….well run along little girl. Return to me when you have the ten pieces of Mithril.”
“Piece of cake.”
Two days later, Yuffie still hasn’t found any mithril for the locksmith. “Man I was so expecting this to be an easy job” she looks to the right and notices a sign for Gold saucer. The sign has a logo of a chocobo and a moogle on it. “Hmm I wonder if they have any prizes I can steal. She follows the signs through Corel town past all the houses and small weapon shops. She notices children playing and Shinra soldiers throughout the town everywhere. She remembers everything they did to her village as she walks by bubbling with hatred. She reaches the gold saucer area and reads the sign on the ticket office “still under construction, gawd damn it. Now where am I suppose to find Mithril! Grrrr” Yuffie retraces her steps and returns to Corel. “I know her” Yuffie says quietly “ She’s the Shinra woman that was with the army in Wutai. What’s she doing here”. She gazed at the Blonde haired woman in Red and listens to what she says to the Shinra soldiers “ We aren’t getting what we want here men. So we’ll burn this place to ash. No matter how many die, whether they be men, woman or little children. They all must die, that way we can have our reactor set up. Oh and help yourself to any of the items you can find.” . Yuffie runs to the other side of the town and escapes Corel careful not to get caught by any if the soldiers. She turns and watches in horror at the burning of houses and the screaming of woman and children. “I wish I could do something, I hate Shinra so much.” A man comes out from behind her and whispers “Hey you, girl with the shuriken” she turns and looks at the man talking to her “my family is locked in that house you must help me get to them, you are a…….” Yuffie heard a bang and the man stopped mid sentence and collapsed to the floor. A soldier looked directly at her and held a gun up at her face “Wutai scum, we defeated your kind two years ago and you have all surrendered to Shinra you should be working with us. Grab a torch and start burning some houses down.” Yuffie looked from the flaming red torch to the gun held before her face. She bends down slowly and lifts up the torch and follows the soldier to a house “now….burn it” Yuffie looks at the house and holds the torch up ready to burn it, turns around swings it swiftly and hit’s the soldier with the burning flame and sets him alight. The man runds to the hosue and leans against it. The house lights up and Yuffie realises she didn’t stop anything. Guilt ridden she flees from this disaster passing two men along the way a very slim one with bright purple hair and a large black guy who look in a rush and completely traumatic at what has happened. She returns to the locksmiths house and he finally stops working to listen to her and she retells him the story of Corels demise.
