Looks like MSN is reading my blogs.
Here's the weekend update I promised I would do
. I started taking pictures and just couldn't stop.

First up are the new long-box additions to the collection. Many of these I've previously owned and it's nice to have them back on the shelf. All of these are c1assic games, but I quickly found out while playing Loaded that memories are sometimes sweeter than the actual thing. Still, I'll probably make some ePSXe roms just in case I get the urge again.

Here are my import PS titles I still 'own'. I was a little more liberal with my money back then and taking the risk on an unknown seemed a lot less risky
.

The Ridge Racer series was always my favorite. I couldn't wait for RR4's release here in the states so I imported it. The LE version came with a t-shirt and the 'Jogcon' controller which had a dial that worked like a steering wheel. This joystick was great in concept, but the pads were still a lot easier to use for power-sliding. As you can see, I still haven't worn the RR4 t-shirt, but I played the game for many hours (despite the Japanese text) through and through.

Here's the import LE of Metal Gear Solid that still sits in it's original box (with the receipt from 1998 ). In those ten years, I haven't opened anything except the main packaging
. The box contains a t-shirt, an artbook, a CD, dogtags, and the Japanese version of the game.

Um I want that Texas Chainsaw Massacre game. Hell I'd be happy with just the box.

You're almost there IG

I can see the appeal of collecting as you do IG. But it's always confused me as to the motivation. I know some people who have crazy vintage comics and sealed Star Wars toys and stuff like that. I myself have a decent sports cards collection probably in the low thousands. But knowing something is worth money ... when's the line drawn between nostalgia, investment, and just just straight up collecting (like the dude in the video).
I'm sure I fall more into the nostalgia department. I always regret letting go of things that were once a big deal for me. But that one just requires holding on to stuff you'd get anyway.

Oh man... all I can think is: "WHY AREN'T I RICH ENOUGH TO DO THIS TOO!?"
Posted Aug 26, 2008 11:10 pm PT
Who's rich?
I've had most of these for over a decade and I've found that many of the old PS1 games are under $20.

Thanks Skool
I'm surprised that it really hasn't gone up in value too.

All I can say is "Mint in a box". Loving the Ridge Racer image BTW - made me go and check to see if I still had my copy (which I do!)
