Hi everybody

I have a stupid question....

Do the people in charge of the content of this site actually WATCH any television at all? Displayed prominently on the home page on August 7 2009 was the following poll question:

Now I'm not a huge fan of most reality TV, but I'm fairly certain that 30 Rock and Desperate Housewives are scripted. In fact, I remeber hearing somewhere that 30 Rock was actually a comedy and Housewives was a comedy/drama.

It does not inspire confidence when the most popular and Emmy-laden shows on the air today are misclassified on the home page. Does this stuff get screened or approved by someone before it goes live?

Hilarious as always Hoeech but it looks like you know too much, if you disappear without a trace soon it was great knowing you. I will admit that most reality shows are unintentionally comedies but that doesn't excuse this error. Ben

Quite embarassing but, unfortunately, not surprising...

That's pretty scary in a really pathetic way. If I had more faith in TPTB, I'd say it was a funny way of gauging the smarts of the users. Sadly, it's a demonstration of the intelligence behind the scenes. My only hope is that it sprang from the loins of an intern, and not a paid staffer.

Hi Hooech, You're absolutely right those two are NOT reality TV! LOL it's funny but sad at the same time. They could have put on The Bachelorette or More to Love which are reality shows. God knows there's enough of them.

if you click one it brings u to a whole different list of shows

Oceanic6 -- They’ll never get me! I’ve been preparing for them for years…

mccar29 -- Yet another “Ooopsie” from a looooong line of “Ooopsies”.

layle1 -- My faith in TPTB has been pizzling away for years. Only now, the rate of pizzle is like a runaway train.

April -- The even sadder part is that the results page show two different shows than the voting page.

Water78 -- Apparently, proof reading is too gauche a concept for the hard-working staff.

It's not actually two but five different shows on results page, at least that is, what I see. Big Brother, Project Runway, The Bachelor, Jon & Kate Plus Eight and American Idol are on the results page. Very strange surveying methods for me.

I'm not surprised, LOL!

My favorite part of the TV.com front page is when the "bubble" is Jon Frieda product-ad inspired and asks the earth-shaking questions: "Who's your faorite blonde?" or "Who's your favorite brunette?" P.S. I'm on a roll: I DETEST the word "product," too! LOL!

LOL ... Yes, that is exceptionally LAME! Is there a complaint forum, because I want to VIOLENTLY protest something I saw on this site recently, calling the Cordelia character on Buffy/Angel "NOT VERY BRIGHT". She liked standardized tests and was accepted at a half-dozen top-notch colleges. Oh, and when someone DIES in a rehearsal accident, is that really just a "mishap"? (I'm talking about Madonna and that little news announcement that's been popping up at the top of the screen.) Gee, I hope I don't disappear mysteriously now...

Maybe they need a new category: "Scripted reality programs..."

The answer is NO, of course it doesn't get screened. A few weeks ago, there was this HUGE ad for this show called Miami Social, and in it, it pictured some woman bending over backwards with some guy in front of her. Now, normally that's just the kind of ads that get shown on the homepage, but in this particular pic, the lady's shirt "somehow" got pulled aside, and well.... let's just say it was a bit of a Janet Jackson moment going on. Needless to say, I was shocked that such a pic made it's way onto the homepage, but what can ya expect from people who don't even know what reality tv is.

ocean58 -- So it’s even more screwed than I thought. That’s actually quite impressive.

Sherasbear -- I wasn’t surprised that yet another mistake reared it’s familiar head; it was the nature of the mistake that floored me.

Sparkle -- Now I know what to get for your birthday.

m00nshadow -- The forums are increasingly pointless when it comes to fixing what is wrong here. The Redesign Feedback board hasn’t been updated early June. Don’t worry about disappearing. It would take a degree of organizational skills to make someone “disappear”. Do you see that happening here?

Al -- They can’t even keep these categories straight. A new one would just confuse them some more.

historyseeker -- The question was a teensy-weensy bit rhetorical. I have no illusions about any degree of proper oversight in anything that goes on here anymore. Do you happen to have a jpeg of that picture that offended you so….just to see if it offends me too, of course.

LOL they listed America's Got Talent twice

Incredible! I remember seeing that headline, but I didn't bother reading the list of shows. I started wondering why a site for tv lovers was talking about shows we hate. I don't know about anybody else, but if I hate a show I don't watch it. Thanks for keeping your eyes open, Hoeech!

basselope7 -- GOOD LORD!! I hadn’t even seen that! It’s worse than I thought…

I-Mom -- I wasn’t trying to debate the pros or cons of having such a question on the homepage, but it’s accuracy as a question. I thought my eyes WERE open, but basselope7 just pointed out another stupidity of this poll. Yikes!

That's just sad.

Nothing with the current administration surprises me, at all. It does not look as if quality control admin is in place.

There isn't much about this place that inspires confidence, or much more than a glum sense of wistful longing for what once was, but this is certainly some Category 4-level "Duh."

Took one look at this and thought exactly the same thing ...
I'd probably also question the nature of the "reality" presented by some of those other shows

The current main page poll asks about Paula Abdul with the exact same list, so, most likely, TV.com got its poll Q&A's mixed-up. I'd make a disparaging remark about the webmaster, but I happen to know who it is and he's a nice guy, so I'll keep my thoughts to myself! Besides, it can't be that easy to run a website like this one, as anyone who has suffered through the last two years' worth of changes can attest! (so much for not making disparaging remarks, eh? ).

Hi Hoeech, I has had to laugh at the list, Does some proof check before posting. Have a great week.

And people wonder why I leave for months at a time.

I don't think the STAFF pays too much attention at times. Before I claimed the Daisy of Love guide, before there was an editor, I noticed that the staff aproved of some badly typed summaries. I'm not talking little typos, I mean third grade quality writing. It was like "Daisy son saw her fiernd wavving at the clurk in the shop." It does make you wonder if things around here truly get approved. Not quite the same as your scenario, but you get the idea.

to think of it those poles are fixed

I'm personally under the assumption that they just do what they want when they want with out a need for and not bothering to see if it's correct.

TV.com - stuffs up daily.

Posted Sep 3, 2009 5:30 am PT
AHAH, I missed that one, didn't know TV.com made mistakes! But then again, they could leave the entire reality content on this website off and it would only make it a better website.
