After my little stupid brother had been playing San Andreas all day, he decided to get off and watch TV. So, I went to take a shower, quickly jumped out, took the GTA disc out, put the NBA Street V3 disc in, and powered up my PS2. You know that little whirring sound that you hear when you first turn it on, which means that the disc is now spinning? Well, I didn't hear it lol. But, I really didn't paid any attention to it. But, when the main menu came up, I knew something was wrong. So, i reseted it. Still, it went to the main menu. OK...so I decided to go to "Browser", and it only picked up my memory cards. I was/am so f**kin pissed! So, I assume that the problem is that it's not reading my games now. I am not eager to go out and buy another PS2. If anyone can tell me what problem im dealing with, and what steps I should take, please help!

Ima try it tommorrow. Maybe it was because it was on for so long that it was acting weird. Hopefully, it works the next time I try to play it. Not that I haven't been thinking about buying the new slimmer design that should be coming out this year, but i want to have a good reason lol.

My PS2 (Slim) has only had the occasional DVD reading problem. I used to play on it all the time, although I don't really play on it much now.

Hey, I had the same exact problem! I knew it was a problem concerning the disc drive, so I flipped the PS2 into its vertical position. I booted up the PS2, popped in a game then opened up the browser. It took about 30 seconds, but then the CD image appeared and once I selected it, the game ran smoothly.
I repeat this procedure every time I play, but I'd say it's worth it. My friend had a same problem as well, so he did the same thing and it worked for him.
Hope this helps.

Send into Sony and tell them you were playing a game such as GoW 2 or any other Sony game and say it does not read disk. They'll sen you some email information and then you send it back to get another one, thats what I did.
