Last week, I asked for your help in deciding on what new laptop I should get. After much deliberation, I've decided to go with a HP...although it's not the model I initially had in mind between the two choices. I wound up getting Hp's HDX 16t.

It's a pretty solid machine, and it only costs $1000 Here are some of the specs:

  • Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo Mobile Processor
  • 4GB memory, Upgradeable to 8GB
  • NIVIDIA GeForce GT 130M video card
  • 500GB storage
  • Built-in wireless network card w/Bluetooth
  • Built-in fingerprint reader

This was the machine I was initially going to order from Hp directly; the only diferences were to be a bumped-up processor, a higher resolution screen, and a Blu-Ray drive. But, I wouldn't recieve it in time to startmy courses tomorrow. Speaking of which...

After 13 years, I'm FINALLY going to be starting college tomorrow. I'm going to be a paralegal, if things go as expected. I'm a little nervous, because I'll be doing both school & running the store full-time. It's a lot of work, but I can't be running the shop forever. I got bigger & better thing in mind for the rest of my life.

Anyway, that's it for now. I'll try to keep up the blog, time permitting. Talk to you guys later...

Good pick up. I've heard some iffy things about fingerprint readers, though. They can be, no pun intended, really touchy.

I've no problems yet, but it's good to know. Worse case senario, I'll have to type the passwords manually, so it's no hassle. It is nice to just swipe it to log on to the computer ov various sites.

You're gonna be a busy guy...Nice laptop. I like my HP, even though it's like 5 years old now, it's just nearing the end of it's life.

I was gonna say I thought you were older than 18, but better late than never. I'm gonna be 27 next month and I'm just now finishing, so I know all about it.

thats a nice laptop! My cousin is almost finished with this one year accelerated paralegal extension course from UCLA. I hear some courses are even quicker, like six months. You know a good paralegal for a top law firm can make over 100k a year?

I'm sure you can manage both school and work. I hope you enjoy your laptop.

Cool and good luck with college. Also, invest on a good carrying case to protect your new laptop better.

@SciFiCat - That was the first thing I picked up with the laptop. I bought a Swiss Army backpack for it; a little pricey, but it looked durable enough to handle a lot. Plus, it does't look like I'm obviously carrying around a computer...perfect for when I have to head home through the less repuable part of town on the way home.
