If so, then I'm sure you're familiar with the fact that episodes of Naruto air on Cartoon Network, more specifically as a part of Toonami, a block of anime that airs at certain times of the day. Seeing as we're all gamers here, I figured I may direct your attention to a game that the CN website has put up in relation to the show. Nothing spectacular here, just a little flash game that you can kill some time with if you so care to.

If you're into anime but have never gotten a chance to get into the show, learn more about it at the CN website. I think you'll like the show if you ever get a chance to watch it. See you guys on the boards!!!

I don't like Naruto, or any anime, really. I used to watch anime all the time, but I guess it was just a "phase" I grew out of.

Yes. I know many others who do as well.

LOL...well, I'm 23 now Gregg, so I guess anime's been more than just a phase to me. I don't try to watch it religiously or seek out the movies, but I still do enjoy watching a good anime when I come across it.

Who's your favorite character?
Posted Mar 18, 2007 12:20 pm PT
Rock Lee...If you know anything about him then you might learn a little about me.
Posted Mar 18, 2007 12:32 pm PT
you wear a spandex suit and worship someone that looks like you? and u know the drunken fist?

Rock Lee is pretty kool. So you are saying that you never give up even when it looks like your opposition should be winning is that what you are trying to say. If Neiji wasn't so coldhearted he'd be my favorite. My favorite is Kakashi of course I'm not as much like him as you are to Rock Lee but in a way I do have my Kakashi moments.

Yeah Naruto is pretty good, although I grew up on anime so I love almost all of it. Best fighting game with Naruto is Mugen since you can fight Ichigo vs Naruto or Ranma or Ryoga or Kenshin etc etc etc

LMAO...that's exactly right MaChao. Not quite dragon...Rock Lee didn't have any natural talent. I study MA and lift Dragon. However, I've never been the most naturally athletic person. I have certain strengths, but I don't pick up easily on physical skills. At 5'6", I was also never the biggest lifter. However, I always trained and lifted really hard. I would always spar against the fastest and tallest, or the strongest and most talented grapplers, and lift with guys twice my size. Though I didn't have much natural talent, I made up for it with will and training harder than anyone else. That's why I sympathize with Rock Lee the most.

I love anime, but I never liked Naruto a whole lot.Gregg, anime is far from a phase,I cant see someone getting into it,and then getting out.If you feel as if your to "old" for anime, try Cowboy Bebop,Death Note and Hellsing.

If there is anything good about Naruto, its Ino and Sakura. There so cute.

I like Ino, Sakura, and Hinata too. Do you like Guy also? He's crazy about his looks.

My wife and I love Naruto. We have been watching it since we came to Japan, everyone here is watching the second Naruto series now. But we DO NOT like the American dubbed version, the voices are horrible, if you have not watched the Japanese version I suggest you do, dattebayo has created great fan-subs. The American voices and translations are atrocious.

My favorite character is Guy-sensei, second favorite is Rock Lee. They are just cooler than the other characters because they do not need any fancy ninpo or genjutsu. Plus they are hilarious d(^-^)*.

I actually like the American voices better. There a little monotone, and not as exciting and happy sounding as the American voices.

The flat toning of the dialogue is a function of the Japanese language. Japanese does not use a lot of drastic tone and inflection changes, so it can sound flat to native speakers of other languages. I appreciate that you like the voices to be "exiciting and happy" but imo the characters lost some of their personality when they were dumbed down and hyped up for the English version. For example a lot of the crassness has been edited out which to me just makes it seem like a "kiddy" version of a show that was a bit more serious in tone in its original language.

I know what you're talking about UM...American dubs usu. lessen the quality of the dialogue as opposed to a good dubbing, which I always prefer. But I can still appreciate the American versions nonetheless.

Right, so Kyle, anime shouldn't be a life-dedicating sort of hobby. You can watch occasionally if you want, but that's the main reason I quit watching altogether. First of all, it's a serial genre of animation. If you don't know what that means, it's basically like a soap-opera. If you catch an episode that just so happens to be out of order with the rest of the episodes you've seen, you're completely lost in the convoludity(?) of it, and missing even one episode messes up the whole experience because so much happens in each installment, you lose a lot of the story.

In addition, I don't really like the dubbing. I know people have been saying that for decades, but it's true. You can't match Japanese mannerisms to English dialogue, because half the time it doesn't make sense. And, I don't know if I'm the only one who gets irritated when a character says something like "GYAAAHH, YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT TAKESHIIIII!!!!!", as he swings his fist around slowly(though it seems sort of fast, eh?). Something about the dialogue, the expressions on their faces, and the actions that they're making don't seem to fit. Kinda like trying to build Lincoln's Log Cabin out of a mixture of Legos and Megabloks. They just feel and look awkward, y'know? Anyway, I'm not trying to slam any of you, because I know what happens when fans of J-pop culture get dissed by an outsider(painful memories of the bamboo rod...). However, I will say this; I enjoy the subtitled original cuts from the Japanese airings.

Also, on a completely seperate note, I love all Final Fantasy games preceding VII(BOOO, HISSS!!!), and if I could speak Japanese fluently(which will never happen), I'd move to the Japanese countryside to live out the rest of my days after retirement. But, since I only know "hello", and a couple of curse words, I'm gonna make it a point to retire in Canada. Anywhere's better than this Hell-hole.
